See, now this is the kind of thing that I could understand a public official going past his own governmental bounds to prevent from happening. Something of such blatant hate should be stopped, although I do not agree with the recent allowance of gay marriage in places like San Francisco and Multnomah County because it sets a bad precedent for people going beyond their assigned duties. I'd have no problem with legal battles and constituitional ammendments though.

I've known about Phelps wishes for a long time... and I'm so glad that the Laremy City Council voted against it, and it still hasn't been erected. Some people are just seriously sick, and twisted. Its like hate has completely controlled their lives, even when no wrong has been committed.

I suppose that's the downside to freedom of speech. What they should do is build an even bigger memorial next to it with some bible passage about love and acceptance.

On an unrelated note, I'm building a memorial to Dr. Atkins that says "ROBERT ATKINS entered Hell on February 10th, 2004, in Defiance of God's warning: 'THe pig, for even though it has divided hoofs and is cleft-footed, it does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. Of their flsesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch; they are unclean for you' (Leveticus 11: 7-8)"
