:-( They said they needed to think about it and might call after an East Coast Fair. I don't think they will. I was planning to accept it. Am disappointed.
The Taiwan one? I'm sorry. If it's any consolation, teaching gigs are plentiful in this hemisphere and if you ever need advice, I have done a good bit of research.
Yeah, I'm still in school. They accepted us to the job fair as long as we will have our certification by August. However, most places weren't even willing to talk if you did not have 2 years experience of teaching.
I may ask you for advice yet. But I don't think I will get any offers this time around. I'll have to start relooking soon in spring.
You didn't NOT get the job, they're just delaying their decision until they've interviewed everybody. Seems pretty standard to me. And even if you don't get it, what about New Zealand? Korea? You'll find something, and when you do, it'll be much better than homophobic Taiwan, where they put Hello Kitty armbands on policemen to humiliate them.
I'm sorry to have lost you mid-sentence last night- my phone died, and now I need to charge it...
Don't worry about it Jessie. It sounds like you were feeling pretty torn about it anyway. There will be other opportunities, and like Leah said, they didn't not give it to you, they are just waiting to make a decision. Maybe it's to do with you coming out, and them worrying about you having problems with the homophobic culture- it's not necessarily anything to do with your teaching abilities!
Yes, I was pretty torn. The positives were *so* positive. (I would have a little scooter to ride!) But the negatives were threatening as well.
I hadn't thought about him worrying about my welfare, but I know he considered the fact of me coming out. When I asked him what the atmosphere was like, I think he told me to research in part because he didn't want me to sign just on his word that things would be okay.

Aren't you still in school, though?
