"I think it's good for me," she told him, taking a deep breath. It was definitely much better than being cooped up in her room.
Actually, the whole thing reminded her of Christmas Day. There were many more people around, most of the racing through the park as a short cut, but there was an easy calmness that had settled around them.

"Good-" he said, brow furrowing as he smiled, feeling pretty damn relaxed himself. "We should have done this sooner-"

When she was younger she'd watch the clouds pass by, laying out in the grass or the merry-go-round for hours in silence. Even there there weren't many clouds out now she looked up into the vast empty sky, smiling as she played with her ferris wheel.
It was amazing what a change of scenery could do for a person. Skylar wasn't preoccupied by every day floor creaks or door slams, constantly on edge.
"What sandwiches did you put together?" she asked him, head turning in his direction.

He wrinkled his nose as he reached toward the basket, flipping over the latch to tip it toward him. There was one of well, everything, inside Lunch meat, tuna, egg, all the essential sandwich types.
"What can I get for you, darling?" He had an affected tone to his voice, a playful grin tugging at his lips.
