Having lunch together wasn't exactly new for the three of them since Hermione had come back and Ron and she had gotten their shit together. This week was pulling everyone a little thin, though, since the blackout had left more clean up necessary than anyone had really expected, probably.
When Harry had called them all the lunch, it was obvious something was going on. Ron thought Harry would have worked up to it a little more. He practically choked on the drink he was taking when Harry just dropped it like that.
"What? Come again? When you say a war, do you mean like the last one?" Was that even actually possible at this point? Why the forest?
Hermione was sighing over a list in a small notebook and biting the end of a pen. She had been trying to recall all the spells she had placed on her purse, now blown to shreds. Her small apartment was not dealing with all the extra stuff very well- she was having a hard time getting from room to room. Crookshanks was especially cranky about it. Hermione knew she would have to bewitch a new bag, and soon if she ever wanted to cuddle with her cat again.
"A war-" the word hung heavy in the air. It was enough to distract Hermione from her list. A war between creatures from the forest could certainly be inconvenient, especially since Hogwarts was so vulnerable since the Blackout... but could it be a real concern for them personally? "Between whom?"
Harry busied himself for a moment with his water, taking a long and heavy sip as he kept his eyes on both his friends. If there was anyone he could really trust in judgement, it was these two- after all they had been through together-
"A bunch of werewolves are trying to take land in the forest," he said, keeping his voice low and steady, his eyes darting past them behind his thick frames, making sure no one was looking at them too strangely. "And no one else is happy about it-"
He cracked his knuckles subconsciously, shaking his head.
"Firenze came to Hogwarts when all hell broke loose- said they were attacking the werewolves that night."
Of course the werewolves were trying to take over the Forbidden Forest. Of course the centaurs were going to take that as an assault and fight back - or preemptively strike, as it sounded. Of course it started when magic was gone.
"So the question is - " Not that it was a question. As soon as Harry started explaining, Ron knew where this was going. Of course this was officially their problem. A magical creature - if that's even what werewolves were classed as these days; Ron couldn't keep up - war was exactly what literally everyone needed to deal with. Especially given that is was happening adjacent to Hogwarts where everyone's children were housed for the next few months. This was a forgone conclusion if Ron had ever seen one
