He didn't think he'd seen so many people in Grimmauld Place since the summer before his fifth year. The nostalgia hit him hard but he tried not to focus on it. Too many were missing, too many lives lost in the last fifteen years. It hurt to see the empty places standing among them all

They had all survived a war before but this was a side of it that Skylar had never experienced before. The Order of the Phoenix was intimidating, at best.
Suddenly Grimmauld Place was bustling with again. Faces she recognized, people she had never spoken too before. But they all laid a claim here that she never could and suddenly this living room felt a little bit less like her own home.
She hung off to the side, fingers playing with the tips of her hair and an icy look at on her face that took over whenever she was starting to feel anxious or uncomfortable.

Harry didn't need convincing, but he knew others would.
He listened intently, eyes scanning the room as they had during the very first meeting of Dumbledore's Army. It was absurd to see how it had evolved- Seamus and Dean lingering in the back corner, Ginny with Fred and there was George with Cecilia in the back, all of these people he had seen fight in the war and they were back, all here to put themselves on the line again.
His eyes settled on Skylar and his brow furrowed.
He inched toward her, tucking back to the side where she stood, his hand tugging at hers.
"Hey-" he whispered.

She was only here to lend her support, no matter how little he needed it when there were so many others here for him and the cause.
"Hey yourself," she said, lacing their fingers together.
"Its a good turn out-"

He couldn't help but look around them again, feeling an odd swell of pride. These people were always going to be special to him, always going to be the people he would think about with an odd mixture of admiration and pride, knowing that they all fought to save his life.
More than once.
"We'll see how the direction swings," he said, squeezing her hand. "I'm glad you're here," he told her, then. "I need you with me."

But she had never imagined to be apart of The Order herself. She had never felt intensely connected to her family before in her life.
She came into Grimmauld Place on her own, immediately looking for anyone she would recognize. Actually, one very specific familiar face.
"Remus. Hi-"

Not like Remus could blame him. No. Grimmauld was filled with horrid memories, terrible things- and yet it had been their solace during the beginning of the second war. It had been their hideaway.
When Susan arrived, Remus looked up, offering the young girl- no, woman- a smile. He raked his fingers through his hair before moving toward her.
"Susan- you made it," he said, a warm smile tugging at his lips.

Susan looked up at Lupin, a man that had been the closest thing to a father figure that she had ever had, with wide blue eyes. This wasn't exactly a happy event but she couldn't help but feel a little giddy.
"You know I wouldn't have missed it," she assured him, "Not after you asked me to come yourself-"

If there was ever a young witch who gave him a run for his money that wasn't Hermione Granger, it was Susan. She was the spitting image of her mother and the spite fire her father was. The perfect mixture of them both.
"Aye, well, recruiting was a key this round," he admitted. "It isn't every day something like this-" he waved his hand, eyes settling briefly on Sabrina and Sebastian Daley- the family that ignited this whole feud, whether they realized it or not.
They were changing everything about the idea of what a werewolf was to the public eye.
"-happens," he finished, shrugging his shoulders. "We're all grateful you're here."

Now they were running the show. Apparently. Ron wasn't sure they were doing a very good job at it, considering the crack team they'd assembled. Everyone had a lot of merit, Ron knew, but they were such a strange mix.
It could probably be worse.
He was carrying around a glass, bored of Hermione's conversations that were far too technical and not half as tactical as needed to keep his interest in anything. Ron sipped his water, spared a moment to wish he'd brought whiskey, and spotted Skylar standing slightly awkwardly by herself.
He hadn't seen her often, not nearly like he did before Harry had abandoned him. Crossing the room, Ron stood beside her. "Are you supervising, assessing, or trying to stay out of the way?"

Besides, it would be nice to get to know him a little bit better. Probably.
"A little bit of both?" she offered, though it probably came off as annoyed. It was her first instinct that was hard to shake.
She forced herself to soften.
"Mostly just trying to find where I fit in-"

"If anyone has a which one doesn't belong vibe, it's one of them." While she hadn't been around the Order in the past, Ron actually didn't have a hard time seeing Skylar there. Then again, he was also very used to associating her with Harry.
"I don't think any of us know exactly what we're doing right now."

It was sort of amazing to her to be so closely associated with The Golden Trio after watching from afar for so long. They lived in this world that she never thought that she'd ever be apart of.
And now here she was, living with Harry and having casual conversations with his best mates, surrounded by the family of his ex and former house mates. It was all very surreal most of the time still.
"Is it weird for you? With the house being so different-"

Still, he never got to see her outside of planning that and actually broadcasting.
"How weird is this?" The first go around with the Order, Lee hadn't really attended meetings like this. They'd all been on the run for various reasons back then, and finding somewhere to whole up long enough to put on Potterwatch was an ordeal. This was definitely not that experience. For once, he was glad be in on something from the ground up, as it were.

There was even a war brewing-
"Lee, my love!" she beamed, not even skipping a beat to lean against him and wrap her own arm around his waist.
"It's a shame we all wait for the next war to bring us together, you know."

It had been more carefree, for one.
"The next time we want to see each other, we should rent a pub instead of planning to fight battles. It would probably save time." He'd make light of it when he could because that's what he did. It was the way he coped and how he managed to help others cope when he had the chance.

It wouldn't be the first time that the gang got together in that shop with a supply of fire whiskey that was seemingly endless at their disposal. They didn't need much more as long as they were all together.
And they'd get through this too because they were all together.
"Are they here, by the way?"
