Book # 38 (!) for 2006:

Assassination Vacation, by Sarah Vowell, is a look into the assassinations of Lincoln, Garfield, and McKinley.  Sounds boring, but it was fascinating.  I am not one for American history, but this book made me want to learn more about it.  Funny and often macabre, Vowell brings to light many obscure facts about these ( Read more... )

I have to say I'm intrigued -- I usually don't go for the history books but if it includes presidential death and a nineteenth century sex cult, I'm in!!!

Plus, Sarah Vowell is just really cool anyway. She's friends with David Sedaris and was the voice of Violet (is that the daughter's name?) in the Incredibles.

that is my next audiobook to come. sadly, it's abridged, but it's narrated by sarah vowell. i am looking forward to it after i finish the edith wharton i have out now.
