{Holmes is sitting in his room. He isn't high today, but he isn't dressed either. He's in his nightdress and purple housecoat, lounging on his settee and smoking. He's impeccably clean and shaved as usual, for even in his deepest hours of boredom and malaise he will not forsake his cat-like love of grooming.}I suppose nothing of any consequence ( Read more... )

I vaguely recall an announcement. It seemed of no consequence. {Flippant gesture here.}

Well it's not the same as a murder, no. Although there seems to be some of that going around lately. But you can learn a lot about people by talking to their parents. Because parents are naturally chatty.

[And that's why George and parents get along like a house someone has lit fire to.]

Murder, for the most part aboard this ship, is just as banal as the lack of events between those incidents, talkative parents notwithstanding.

I do not wish for an event. The barge has been exciting enough thus far this month.

[Reaver has mostly busied himself reading the community, back-reading old entries, and flirting with every Warden on duty that patrols down here. When Holmes comes to find him he is much in the same position he was before -- lazing on the cot like a happy cat sunning itself.]

{The dramatic flourish of opening the door brightens Holmes' mood a little.}

A fan of some mystery, are you?

I appreciate very specific mystery-either ones entirely perplexing from the start, or those that present a typical scene, save for one vital and singular indication that there lies a deeper explanation to the story.

There is much on the Barge that is entirely perplexing, in my opinion. But we may have different standards for that. [Giggle.]

You're looking well today, Mr Holmes. [For "well", read "better", and for "better" read "no longer high as a kite".]

I still have your inmate's gun.
