Ja, shinde? * Small Note: There is very limited information for Ryoko since she had limited screen time so if more is required I'll try to dig it up.
Character Background:
Ryoko is an Integrated Data Entity back-up created by Nagato Yuki to observe the interesting subject of Suzumiya Haruhi. Despite she is more social and popular than Yuki, Ryoko actually doesn't relate to humans much at all. Her logic doesn't allow her to think of the deeper implications of any extreme measures and how it would affect the humans involved; the most important issue is Haruhi's happiness of the world around her.
To the rest of the world she's seen as the model student, a good athlete, class president, and all around nice girl. She's polite and seems to get along with everyone but when Haruhi shows sign of boredom and losing interest in the world, Ryoko takes it upon herself to pick the most logical route to change things; even putting Kyon's life in jeopardy. Her attempted murder plan was stopped short by Yuki interfering and after battling with the back-up Data Entity, Yuki removes Ryoko's programming from the physical world and ends her brief appearance in Haruhi's life. Even during her deletion, it seemed that Ryoko still didn't fully understand the final implication of death, for humans or herself, and she spoke her goodbyes pleasantly as if she would see Kyon and Yuki again.
The story used to cover up her mysterious disappearance was that she moved to Canada with little notice.
Relationships:
Suzumiya Haruhi - Ryoko's relationship with Haruhi is more than the facade of being the class president of their homeroom class. Ryoko exists to monitor the life of the girl with the god-like powers, making observations of how she interacts with the situations at hand and how she shapes the world around them. If Haruhi's reactions are few and far between, Ryoko takes the chance to make things interesting for the girl. Haruhi never knew but Kyon's life was the deciding factor to make her world more interesting when she said everything was boring.
Kyon - Kyon's odd friendship with Haruhi makes him interesting in the eyes of Ryoko, as Haruhi seems to find him important to her. He was the only logical choice for her actions to produce a reaction from Haruhi when the teenage girl was bored of the world.
Nagato Yuki - There isn't much of a relationship between the two Data Entities. Ryoko is the back-up created by Yuki to help her observe Haruhi but her personality is nothing like her creator. While Yuki is reserved and one of few words, Ryoko is social and gets along well with her classmates despite her lack of sympathy towards humans. Their logic with different situations seems to differ as Yuki's logic tends to work with human impact involved while Ryoko tends to ignore that humans can't just be deleted and be done with. In the end it is Yuki that puts a stop to Ryoko's radical logic.
Abilities/Special Powers:
Ryoko, like Yuki, is able to manipulate her surroundings with code 'spells' and bend reality to her will. Once the area affected has been overwritten with code, she can manipulate it to appear as anything she programs; doors to disappear, whole rooms stripping away into something else entirely. She can also manipulate her body--primarily her arms--into metal spikes to attack an opponent with and her reflexes allow her to move quickly and wound Yuki in their fight over Kyon's life
She's only used her abilities in extreme situations, such as when she was trapping Kyon to kill him for the sake of Haruhi's happiness. Other than that she's quite pleasant and patient.
Third-Person Sample:
Was this what death felt like?
It didn't feel like the end of all things that humans were so afraid of. Just a brief feeling of nothing and...
The 'afterlife' seemed quite pleasant with the decor. Ryoko glanced at her surroundings, taking in the room she was standing in instead of the recoded classroom. There was a complete lack of presence of Suzumiya Haruhi or the data from Yuki. Was Yuki's deletion successful? It didn't feel scary at all. She was disappointed that her plan wasn't carried out; she was looking forward for the series of events that would follow after Kyon's necessary demise. All of the different emotions that would flow through Haruhi, lighting up Ryoko's dark world with information never before seen by any other entity. It would have been so interesting for Haruhi if Ryoko had just a moment more to complete her goal.
She smiled a bit sadly. They both didn't understand, no matter what they did Haruhi was never truly happy or interested with the world. There were brief sparks of light, encrypted data that showed promise but blinked out whenever the excitement ended. Living in the dark with such an interesting subject so close felt like...
Pausing to take a moment to scan the new world around her, she could feel a large presence in the strange world she was now in. Was it someone similar to Suzumiya Haruhi? Curious, Ryoko approached the door at the other end of the room. This 'death' would prove interesting until she could find a way out of it. Maybe Haruhi would find it fascinating as well if she ever had the pleasure to meet the girl again with her new found knowledge.
'Life' after 'death'. It defied all standard logic and as she opened the door to let in the light, a radical point of view made it seem all the more interesting.
First-Person Sample:
Your logic was flawed, Nagato-san.
The interference wasn't necessary; my logic was perfect. Suzumiya-san's reaction from Kyon's life disappearing would have been something we'd never seen before. The mountain of data from her response would have been phenomenal to examine...! The extent of her reaction would change the world around her, maybe for the better...!
It was what she wanted, right? It would have been interesting for her if someone just disappeared and Kyon was the logical choice. The rest of her classmates wouldn't cause such a stir as it would for Kyon; he seems to be the only person that she truly cares about. You see that now... right?
A world without excitement and mystery is nothing but a world without light. A boring world is no fun, don't you agree?
