“Captain Agathon, sir?”

Helo glanced down from the dradis console in the center of CIC, letting his eyes rest on the enlisted man who had just addressed him. There was no immediate flash of recognition, and Helo reflected briefly that it might be one of the new recruits, civilian personnel from the fleet who wanted guaranteed rations, a place ( Read more... )

Ah nice... Zarek is wily and Helo is as usual, thinking too much. It's hard for him... hope he doesn't pop a blood vessel

Hehe...Zarek is just knocking him out of the water. It's kind of funny.

Helo does seem in serious danger of blood vessel popping.

He'd better. Helo's not being terribly smart, despite all of his thinky-ness.

This was really well done! I actually liked Helo again, because for the first time in a long time, we get to see him as vulnerable in some sympathetic way, not some lionized, holier-than-thou way. And I like the shift to seeing his thinky-ess, as you put it, as almost kind of innocent, for all its seriousness.

Plus, the scene with Athena was done very elegantly. You managed to get across some important exposition without making it seem like that's what you were doing it all. And I liked how she referred to the fact that people on Galactica haven't all just accepted a Cylon officer in their midst.

Also: Zarek and Helo's interaction seemed for a brief moment like it was channeling Romo and Lee. Very fun!

Thanks! I always thought they exaggerated the Helo: Lone Voice of Truth thing terribly in the series; and then I wrote this, looked at it, and went "oh damn" because it's kind of exactly what I did...but I'm glad it comes across a little more believable than the show.

Well, Zarek and Romo both give the impression of a shark, swimming very slowly after a tiny, tiny minnow. :D

Helo-centric part - you are my hero! :) I loved how you showed his uncertainty, and the slow shift in his position.
That being said, he is about to something stupid, isn't he?

LOL. Yep, basically. But really, he's not to blame. He thinks he's doing the right thing.
