X-Men First Class COMPLETE fic: Late Bloomer (33/33)

Phew. Done. This final chapter is almost certainly full of mistakes, absolutely definitely full of angst and may not make sense, but, you know, DONE. YAY.

I think the whole fic clocks in at around 80,000 words all told. Never again. Seriously. Not ever doing this again.

Chapters 1-28:

OMG it's finished!!! :D /burst into tears
I love your world building in this fic...! It's kind of bitter sweet, but realistic. The senior prom feels like the calm before storm, and I was waiting for my heart to be broken...TvT But I am glad even though they ended up in different paths, they were still in touch! And reading along with the wiki page...all my feelings...!!!!!
Thank you for finishing it!

Thanks! And, um, hi, I just realised who you are and I love your art, and I saw a while back that you did an Erik-and-cat!Charles doodle that was vaguely related to Having Kittens, and I got so excited and I wanted to ask if I could link to it from the fic but it was Tumblr and I don't understand Tumblr and I couldn't work out how to send you a message, but now I can ask! (Longest run-on sentence ever...)

*ahem*

Would you be alright with me linking to your art from my fic?

Eeee, thank you! It's such an adorable picture, I love the thought of Erik cuddling up with Charles and a book.

And I'm glad that the christmas lights boost your mood - that was one of my favourites to write, it was so much fun.

Oh my holy fuck. This fic. First of all, thank you so much for the journey. I mean wow the ending, this is the first ending that I have read that shows Charles and Erik putting off their plans for a while and be together until their differences eventually takes a toll on them. Its just.. such a realistic and heartbreaking but sortof satisfying ending. I cant. ;_ ( ... )

Eee, thank you! Sorry for the late reply.

I'm glad the ending worked for you, I was kind of worried that it would be... not an ending at all, really. Very grateful to Tawabids for doing the hard work for me! And yeah, that line. OH CHARLES NO MY POOR BABY.

Hmm... honestly, I don't think I could do Strykergate justice, so I doubt I'll write any more in this verse... though there is 30,000 words of co-written bizarre AU hiding in the world's longest comments thread on one of the chapters, where the boys are transported into the XMFC universe and meet their counterparts. Fun to write but NOT canonical in the Late Bloomer universe.

I'm so glad you liked and reread this! And I hope very much to write more in the fandom though (as you may have realised from the time it took me to finish this) I am rather slow.

It's finished! I just re-read from the beginning, and my hat is off to you. A whole roomful of hats off to you! Your Emma is my favorite Emma of all time, I must say, and Erik's parents--all the characters are just so real, and the dialogue is flawless.

Thank you! I appreciate the hat doffing exceedingly, and it's really interesting to know the parts you enjoyed, especially on a re-read, since... I don't actually remember most of what happened earlier on. Which is kind of shameful, but it's LONG and it's painful to read that much of my own writing. Half of me wants to read it through and work out where I went wrong (oh so wrong), and half of me wants to push it under the rug and pretend it never existed. Learn from mistakes or live in denial... difficult question. Do you have any advice? Librarians are very wise, I'm sure you know these things :-D
