What a great birth story, congrats! (I'll pass on the 10 lb baby though, and stick with 9 lb-ers. ;-) I went 41w4d with my son too, that wait was definitely not fun. :-)

he was almost in a full brow presentation (chin was not tucked down, would have been easier on you if it had been though!) one arm was mostly behind his back, and the other was almost behind
( ... )

i showed chris this line, does he remember?
a change in butt cleavage coloring happens that can be used as a measurement - a solid red line starts to appear when the cervix begins to dilate, beginning in the upper border of the anus. the length between that, and the top of the butt crack is divided into tenths. when the line hits the top, you're ten cm! but other signs of complete dilation, (bootie gooseflesh, warm calves w/cold knees, combined with your previous fundal height measurements, bloody show, etc) were all present too :)

I realized after writing that it looked like I said his chin was tucked down, but it should read "rather than the back, with his chin tucked down". I thought you said it was the tip, though. so brow it was?
as for the cord compression.. do you think it was compressed for very long? you had said the heartbeat sounded fine before you saw the white scalp..
in all honestly.. I don't even really remember you encouraging me to push between contractions.. I wanted to get him out and have it overwith, so I was doing it anyway!

i wouldn't call it a technical brow, but close enough. it was the very top of his head. those are usually hard on moms.
well, he sounded good about 10 minutes before i saw his scalp, so i would say it became compressed when he really started to descend. his apgars were good (7 and 9). and he didn't need any help getting started breathing (i did no suctioning), all signs of a baby able to bounce back well.
yeah, that was one of the very few times i've told somebody to push. it goes against my grain! but if you don't remember that part, all the better! your body wanted him out for good reason!
