Well, i'v gotten tired of all of the crap that windows keep giving me, so i'm just going to switch to linux, it'll do everything windows can do and then some. Plus, I just have a feeling like my computer is going to work better with Linux. I just don't know which distro I was to use yet. Any suggestions anybody?

I really like gentoo, but I wouldn't suggest it for anyone that's not very familiar with linux system administration. Debian or a derivative are always considered good though, specifically Ubuntu. So, I'd suggest checking out Ubuntu.

Ok, i'll grab a iso of it and give it a try out through a live CD. I'm going to have to look up the diferences though and see what's so different about each distro you just named but hey, that's part of picking up a new OS. BTW, how do you set priorities in linux anyways? I know it's a command you have to type in because I remember you doing so a long time ago when ben was playing ut2k4 ony our comp. You gave it highest priority (-5 I think?), I remember that much.

nice starts a process at a specific priority. renice changes the priority of a process. -20 is the highest, and like...50 is the lowest. You probably never want to set anything to -20, even games, because the processes that it's dependent upon (such as X-windows) will be forsaken. -5 is about the highest I'd go for every day things.

I need a bit more info then that, like what would be the exact command line I would have to type in to give ut2k4 a -5 priority?
