It's all she can think about.
Her mother lies propped up in her wooden box, and all she sees is dirt.
Ashes to ashes. Dust to dirt.

Aaron, the other foster child, scratches the back of his head and looks to his right like he'd rather be talking to the imaginary ghosts there.
He has dirt on his hands too.
