Title: goodbye stranger
Character(s)/Pairing(s): jack, claire
Rating/Word Count: pg, 108
Summary: Such a shame it’s too late for a first hand account
Author's Note: Written for lost_in_108 prompt, late. Also used for the sacred_20 prompt, pilgrimage. Title borrowed from a Supertramp song.

Claire mapped stars. She went through phases - goth, preppy, hobo-chic, artistic. She drew on walls with a turquoise crayon (her favorite color). Her baby’s father introduced her to peanut butter. She almost failed kindergarten because she couldn’t cut a straight line. She was everybody’s friend - nobody’s enemy. She was that girl.

Jack learns about his sister through hearsay. Interviews with old friends, public records and anything else he can get his hands on. (obsession they would call this - a substitute for other vices.)

Such a shame he cannot fix her. He can only learn from her memory.

Such a shame it’s too late for a first hand account.
