This is not new for them.

Their skills at pretending are what made them who they are. They can lie enough to make anyone believe they are anything but what they are - ugly users who do not deserve happiness.

They can sit here, pressed up against each other, shoulders bumping and fingers intertwined. She won’t say she’s sorry and he won’t blame her. She’ll be grateful for the silence and the company. He’ll be burdened with the torn heart he carries. They’ll both know what it’s like to be in the other’s shoes.

They are birds of a feather.

You’ll only ever need one stone to kill them.
