The midday sun peaks through the trees, burns his eyes until he has to squeeze them shut just to focus. Sawyer looms over him, angry, and takes whatever Jack is willing to part with.
This is penance.
Jack ignores the surge of desire, the rush that fills him when Sawyer meets his thrusts. Hopes that if he ignores it, it won’t count. The thing about penance - it’s not meant to be enjoyed.
“I’m sorry,” Jack chokes out.
Sawyer glares. “Shut up.”
What Sawyer doesn’t know - it’s said to the smirking ghost over his shoulder. No. You’re not.
Really, this is no atonement. And that’s what he’s sorry for.
