That's a sweet sunset. How was the camera not blinded by it? Seems like it would be all washy and whatnot, unless there is some sort of magic with shutter speeds and all that which allows it.

actually, you can do this with any point and shoot camera! Want the secret? (obviously i didn't take the photo, but its really simple.) When you "focus" on a subject, those nifty point and shoot cameras are taking automatic white balance readings and exposure readings. What you are talking about, with the sunset being white and blown out, is becuase when you use that auto camera, you are pointing it at, say, dillon and I. If the photographer had pointed his camera to take a reading off of us, we would be exposed correctly; ie, you would see more of our body shapes and colors; we weren't really that dark, and the sky would be blown out white becuase it is so much lighter that the camera doesn't know what to do. You point the camera at the sky, and its going to expose for the sky's brightness to make that correct, making us darker. So in reality, we weren't quite as silluetteish as we are in teh photo; its just how camera's work, and unless you have a manual camera and are taking readings off of both subjects, its hard to get both ( ... )
