There are moments in studying a language where you hit walls, and moments where you wonder where that wall went.

My kanji LEVELED UP today.

Random Japanese Language nonsense:(feel free to skip) I finally started studying Japanese again. I've studied for maybe a month out of seven and its no surprise I haven't ( Read more... )

It's only been 7 months? It seems like longer on this end - I haven't seen you since a few weeks before you left.

Seems like less on this end. But yeh, it sucks because it feels to me like time is stopped at home, but in actuality all my friends have stuff going on in their lives and I'm missing it; which sucks.

It's kind of sad that I haven't moved across the earth and I still feel like I'm missing out on the stuff going on in friends lifes.

Either way, you're missed by many back in NY damn it!

Just curious. Is a JET position only a one year contractual position? Do you plan on taking a job outside of JET after it's over? What kind of job?

And I'm curious as to why you said you don't actually really teach at your job. Are you more like an assistant teacher and you just observe and help out sometimes?

Just curious for personal reasons, you know, trying to actually map out my future and whatnot.

That story about the kid was ace. It does sound like a lot of fun, even if you're not fully enjoying what you're doing.

Yeh, JET is only one year, but you can re-contract if you want.

Yeh, JETs are ALT; Assistant Language Teachers. It really depends on your school how much you do; my school keeps me really hands off but some of my friends are supposed to plan lessons and lead the class. Its tough to do when you don't speak their language. I know I could do it but my teachers all have their ways; and to some teachers, you're no more than a walking tape recorder.

Yeh, sometimes its great; recently its been really good with my 15 year olds because they're graduating in two weeks, so they're relaxed and I'm relaxed cause they don't care and I don't care about making them do their work; we both know they're in the home stretch; which allows for more dicking around

And about changing jobs; yeh, I'm going to move to Osaka(ideally) in August and look for work. I'm looking now but I would just take whatever I could find when I get down there.
