There was blood in his eye, and he couldn't see. Or perhaps it was just that there wasn't anything to see, with his face pressed into the wall. Israfael supposed he should have learned better than to hesitate.

Also, it might have been good if he'd learned to shut his mouth. It certainly might have kept Baraqiel from slamming his face into the concrete again. At this point, he didn't care--he was incapable of lying, and that was why the fallen was so angry. He knew that very well.
