Hurray for Famicom-Fixing.

I need some advice. I recently won and received an old Famicom on eBay that has been modded with A/V ports in the back. However, the seller did say that the video connection needed to be resoldered and that it was being held with hot glue, but it SHOULD work. The Famicom also didn't come with an AC adapter, so I can't even test the thing out. Since ( Read more... )

Yeah, I agree. The original metal piece that connects to the board looks like it fell off, and a replacement piece was put in, but it didn't fit correctly and needed a lot of solder to hold it together. I took the hot glue off slowly and being careful, and the solder just came off, quite easily. I do hope that it's nothing too major. I think the weld just holds the jack to the board.

*removes remainder of hot glue* This metal piece is the original, after all. Meaning there was a huge blob of solder must have originally there on purpose. @_@

Things are looking up so far. I might have found a site that sells Famicom A/C adapters, and I've just bought a soldering gun and solder and will attempt to practice on some scrap stuffs first. I think this'll work out after all. ^_^
