Poorly. When I told them how I felt, I was laughed out; I don't really care, though.
Even though they're wrong, their argument was pretty solid... and... many of the superiors no longer think I'm capable as a soldier. They might be right.
... I still don't know if I can fire any more on another person.

Never fire on...
Shiro, let me put it this way for you. If you don't shoot at another enemy, the enemy will shoot at you. And they will nearly always be shooting to kill. In war, it's always you or them, and as long as war exists, that will never change.
The soldiers on the other side may have people to return home to, yes. However, so do you, and so do the rest of us here. Don't feel sorry for them on the battlefield -- they chose to join up with the opposing side, with full knowledge of the risks, just like you chose to join the EDF. Showing them that sort of sympathy is an insult to the resolve they displayed when they took up their arms. As a soldier, you have to honor their commitments to their causes by giving them everything you've got on the battlefield.

... you may say that they chose their side, but... I'm not sure that's always true. We can't choose our lot in life... and sometimes people are drawn into war against their will... and... you can be as rational about it as you want... I know what you're talking about is true... but...
... I've been able to shoot the enemy all this time because... I dehumanized them. Now... to shoot at someone I know is a person... I think I'll hesitate, and... if that's the case... I'm no longer sure I'm cut out to be a soldier.
