Wow, sorry for being kinda MIA for a bit there. Thanksgiving week was a lot busier than I anticipated it was gonna be, then I got distracted by other things...then was just plain lazy for some of it, I'll admit ( Read more... )

That's a let down about Nerd Cave, but i'm glad you checked it out. Wonder if they'll evolve with time.

I heard a lot of it being a let down with the sales this year, stores were feeling sort of chinzy, huh?

That shipping cost on Amazon gets me sometimes :9

and it's nice to hear about a happy Thanksgiving!

The sad thing is, I think they ARE being smart--people seem to be more interested in buying merch FROM comics than actual COMICS lately...which is kinda weird. So they're paying attention to the trends and such, which is good. But I'm still kinda disappointed that they advertised manga/anime and had less than the normal bookstores in town. *eyeroll* 1 Akira graphic novel and some Naruto and Bleach posters are the furthest thing from what I'd be interested in buying, lol.

It's true! I'm always factoring in shipping now, esp. since they rose their free shipping price from $25 to $30! :/ Bleh.

Thanks! I hope you had a nice one, too!

Hmm..I guess that's a point. Man, the things an old school fan don't think of.

It's a trend I've noticed a lot in the anime community, too...one of the things that truly baffles me: fans aren't buying the anime and manga they love, but they'll spend TONS on merch FROM said anime or manga--shirts, bags, hats, pins, keychains, posters, wallscrolls, figures, hug pillows, you name it. I think it's misplaced "support"--they think "oh, well if I buy merch, I'm helping the anime!"...when that really has no baring on the American market whatsoever. (And I imagine it doesn't do much for the comic industry, either, unless it's merch directly from the comic company or something.)

on the topic of excellence in shopping, the US post office re;eased a set of 20 Harry Potter stamps, 20 decent shots taken from the movies, they're not bad

I've heard of the new stamps, but haven't seen any up close yet. Kind of cool! They're really trying to get more people to use the mail, eh?
