Anime Nostalgia Podcast ep 10

Jan 29, 2014 22:34

A short, ReView episode this time around! What is a “ReView” episode, you might ask? Well, it’s my highly-clever (ok not really) title for episodes where I go back and watch an older title I haven’t seen in a long time, and see if what I remember (and what my opinions on it) are still the same now that time’s gone by and I’m a little older.
This time of an 80s Sanrio film I rented on VHS probably a million times as a kid, called The Sea Prince & The Fire Child. And since I was already sort of on the topic of well-loved VHS titles, I threw in a mini review of new VHS documentary Rewind This!

And as I mentioned in the podcast, you can also now subscribe on itunes!

Don’t worry-for those of you who prefer my longer episodes with guests where we talk about topics and such, The next episode will be one of those! (And I promise you won't have to wait too long for it.)

EDIT: Oh hey wow, looks like at the end, when I gave the new email address for my podcast, I TOTALLY SAID IT WRONG! Haha, oops. The new email specifically for sending stuff to me about this podcast is actually AnimeNostalgiaPodcast@gmail.com. D'oh! Sorry for the error, guys!

Sorry for being so quiet lately! I feel like I've been consistently busy, but mostly with boring stuff that even I don't really want to yammer about, I guess.

I am kind of annoyed that it looks like Zack and I will have to re-cast 2 of the MAIN characters of our Maris fandub, considering we haven't heard from those 2 in practically 2 months. (At first I figured they were busy with the holidays, but it's been plenty of time since any real festive celebrations, so...) I'm sure we can find replacements, but I really liked the girl we got to to play Maris, so I'm kinda disappointed. (We even gave them a whole month to respond, and unless they magically respond in the next 2 days...yeah.)

Today I watched Return to Oz for the first time in....god knows how long (I want to say in at least 15 years?! GEEZ.) I found a "used" copy on Amazon for really cheap (it ended up being brand new when it came in the mail, though! YES.) and used my xmas Amazon gift card to get it. If you've never seen it, it's an 80s movie meant to be a "sort-of" sequel to the original movie (I say sort-of because it was made by Disney and not MGM), which was more based on the original novels than the first movie (though I love the original movie, don't get me wrong!). It's actually kind of dark, and I remember a lot of my friends (when I was a kid) saying  they didn't like it because it scared them or weirded them out...but I never thought that at all! Rewatching it now, I can kinda see what they meant, since it's been a while. But I still enjoyed it! Some of the special effects really...do not age well (not to mention some of them do NOT look good on a high-def, larger screen, haha.) And boy, does that DVD have one of the ugliest DVD covers ever. x__X For real, what the hell did they do to Dorothy's FACE?! She looks like that ruined Jesus painting! XD;; I might try to print out a new one when we get some more printer ink, because...it's pretty painful, I have to admit. (It's even worse in person, lol.)

How's everyone's week been so far? Good I hope!
