The mission trip was so much fun. It really made me appreciate how much we have. We saw houses made totally out of cardboard, it was really sad. and people were just running up to the van (the church pastor was with us) and they were just beggin him to pray for them. one lady came up crying b/c her husband needed an operation but she had no money ( Read more... )

I'm glad you had a good time in Mexico and that the trip expanded your worldview and everything, but what good are God, Jesus, or the concept of faith exactly doing to better these people's lives? I'm not trying to approach religion with a completley cynical point of view, I'm just curious. If I'm looking at things from a grotesquely idiotic point of view, please tell me so.

no its fine. from what i saw it gives them something to look forward to on the weekends. they don't have much in their lives. through the church they are also given tarps (like we put up) and food. so their faith that brings them to the church also helps to improve their living conditions.

hopefully that makes some sense.
