So i have finally gotten around to posting about italy. Its prolly gonna be ridiculous long and some entries might be written while drunk. Im gonna shorten it a bit and make it more concise.
Actually im gonna do each city individually. This is Florence
Enjoy.
Jan 5th-6th
The International Flight to take us here was long as shit, leaving at like 10 pm wasn't the greatest idea ever. Took forever to get to Florence. The Hotel room in Florence is tiny as shit and kinda gay. (They took the twin beds and pushed them together and used one comforter, this happened or would have happened to me in all three hotels, Italy hates me)
The Shower was so small that i could not manuever at all, i was consistently banging against the walls. After my cramped shower we had to dress nice because we were getting dinner at a nice place that night. A place on a hill called La Cresto or something like that. I didn't enjoy the wine there but i drank one or two glasses (towards the end of the trip that will change to like 5 or 6 glasses [wine is so good]). I got seated at the overflow table w/ no one I would enjoy talking to much or would like to drink as much too.
Danced there a bit, dancing with another group of people who was there kinda shoved in on there group, but it was fun the first off many dancing. Came back on the bus to the hotel to sleep for the first time in florence and our professor Dr. Ferris is drunk as a skunk. She tried to ask me what room me and nikial (my first roommate) so she new where everyone was and instead off what room are you in she asked "what food r u?" thats how it sounded. Kinda hilarious.
That was the first night in Florence.
Note of the Day: Homoerotic Italy sucks
Jan. 7
Today we went to the Uffizi museum in Florence, a famous art museum.
but before that we went to Santa Croce, a church with a front facade. The outside was white marble and it contained the tombs of michealangelo and Gaileo.
The Uffizi Museum was amazing, many famous art works by Giotto, Duchio, Massico, Botticello, Da vinci (a special exhibit on him too), Caravaggio and Rapheal. I absolutely loved it, even though the group went rather fast through it and i fell behind the group a number of times. (this is only a problem cause our professor had a rule of that u cant go off alone, u need someone with u or a group).
I was not discuss the paintings i liked cause i dont think ud like reading that so yeah, how u doing?
anyways after the museum, had some real italian food at a place called the Yellow Bar, (not a bar in the american sense) and had the best pizza i had on the trip. it was so good and the wine was delicious here also. The waitress hated us, 14 americans who asked for separate checks, but we ended up doing a group check, yeah she hated us. A waiter we met told us about a bar in town called the Fish, its supposed to be good.
Added later----> After an exhaustive search through many sketchy streets we finally found the Fish. It was pretty sweet, although no one was there when we got there. (italians go out later, it was 10 when we went out) It was thirteen of us and a 5 shots for 5 euro deal, of "sex on the beach" or "kamikazi" not particulary strong, i had 9 shots by the end of the night. All the girls began dancing, and mike got the guys dancing and he knew the words to every song. The guys including me palyed guardian keeping the creepy italian men off on the girls. We stumbled back drunk trying to find our hotel, the only way we did it was cause our hotel is near the duomo.
Note of the Day: you dont notice the size & grandeur of pieces of art till u see them in person

After an exhaustative night of drinking and dancing last night, woke up at 6 am for no reason, but it looks like everyone did. They separated our beds finally, oh thank heaven for less homoeroticism.
After breakfast, we went to the Duomo, bulit by Brulesschi. The height didnt seem posssible to to be built with the limited technology. The detail of the frescos on the ceiling was astonishing. (more art talk)...
We decided to go to the top on the duomo, all 463 steps to get up there and 463 steps to get back down. It was a task and my quads were burning when i got there. got a better view of the domes fresco. We got to the top and saw all of Florence stretched out before us. You could see the sites we saw earlier like santa croce, the restaurant la cresto, we went to the first night and even our hotel. Hey ma i can see our house from up there. We met some people from maryland up there and had a lil chat and after 20 mins we went back down. Then we went to look at the bapistry and the doors by ghiberti. Even saw the real ones in the museum down the street. After crossing periously dangerous streets (they get worse in rome).
After the Dumom museum, we spilt up for our free time, i went with the sisters, bailey and natasha and we went shooping near the ponte vecchio (famous bridge). I got a nice shirt and a belt (on sale) real italian for a little over 20 euro. Just shopped chilled and chatted.
After our daily meeting, we went a place for dinner called dante soemthing, cause his house was right near there. the dinner was good, shared some wine with people. Afterwards, we got ripped off on some gelato, it was hella expensive and not worth the 8 euro payed for it. After being so exhausted that i went to bed at 9 and woke up at 2 and decided to do work that we have for the class.
Note of the Day: 30 by 30
Jan. 9th
Today was very busy, went to the bargello, the convent of san marco and the academy. Seeing so many wonderful artworks, including 2 davids, by michealangelo and donatello. Michealangelo's david is massive and it placed in a very good spot. I still prefer donatellos david to it.
(more boring art talk)
We watercolored today as one of our projects, this class was so easy. Leave for Venice tomorrow, it feels like the end of the trip but we still have 9 more days.
Added later----> (i can tell cause it is written in blue ink, while all the rest are written in pencil)
After dinner we went looking for cheap alcohol to drink, it did not matter that everything was closed or we had to be up at 6 am. Irrevelant!
Fifty Feet from the hotel we found a place with $6 bottles o wine. We eventually got 8 of them on 2 different trips. The wine was very good compared to its cost. We came back to the hotel and went to Cait and liz's room and played King's cup. It was drunksome (drunk + awesome).
We ended up, 10 of us, getting drunk and having a great time in my pants. First time playing kings cup in my pants and i have to say it was a pretty sweet game in my pants. Nikhil almost passed out, and everyone else was drunk.
A flurry of drunken photos followed leading to what will be hilarious photos. I know most of the people know, maybe some a little too well, Time to go to Venice, Florence I will miss you.
Note of the Day: Wine is delicious!
Venice and Rome are forthcoming.
