So yeah, i'm at a hospital in Lackland Air Force Base. (Texas) After 2.5 weeks of training i was sent to "medical hold" which basically is the same as regular training, only that it's half as hard and it doesn't count towards my 6 weeks of training. About 15min. ago I had an orthology exam on my wrist because of a Ganglian Cyst I have there. ( Read more... )

Make This Work! anonymous November 11 2005, 17:36:25 UTC
Suck it up. Instead of focusing your energy on self-pity, take all the courage you can muster, and MAKE THIS WORK! Do the pushups even though it hurts. Ask to have the cyst busted open at least to get through basic training. Whatever it takes. Don't accept failure or defeat. The rest of Air Force life is not like Basic Training. This is the worst to test your resolve. You'll never know what you could have been if you give up now. Tell your officers that you want to stay in the Air Force and will do what it takes. Don't let them hand your "dog tags" back, or ask for your resignation. Don't let them break you. Show fortitude and courage. God will meet you in your weakness, but you've got to give your very best too.
This is called "tough love". I want the very best for you. I want you to grow into the man of character God wants you to be. To reach success, there's always a cost. Gut it out! MAKE THIS WORK!

You're right. This is the toughest thing you've ever done. Can you imagine what it will feel like once you succeed! Throughout life you will continue to find more and more things that get tougher and tougher. If you give up now how will you achieve later? Life is about options. Find out what you have to do; what your options are. But achieve. Succeed! Not for the Air Force, but for the rest of your life!!!

Military training can be the most difficult and challenging endeavor that you will ever be apart of. One of the most important things to remember while you are going through training is, IT'S ALL A GAME! They will push you and pull you in all different directions. They will do this to you as an individual and as a group. They want to see what you have inside. They want to break you down, but they will build you back up. What they have to offer, even though you don't see it at this time, is discipline, and responsibility. There are many others but these are the ones that I have seen, and jump out the most ( ... )
