...there is a light that will never go out...

Minato Arisato→arisatominato ★★★★☆

Minato was one of the first to talk to him when he first arrived in Death City, confused by everything, along with the fact that he had apparently “been there before”. He was also one to jump into his conversations with other people, which immediately had him wary, because seriously. Who does that? But he’s a good kid, one who’s actually supposed to be his senpai, if the timing is right. He reminds him a little of Yosuke with the headphones at times, as well as the girl hunting, which is actually interesting to watch; he’s just as good as he is at times when it comes to picking up women. He also eats a ton. He’s going to have to watch out, because if he can eat as much as Souji can, he’ll never have any food leftover for lunch; he told him he should open a ramen stand, since he can make real Japanese ramen versus what they have in stores here. If he ever decides not to work at the pub, he just might.

Otherwise, he really likes Minato. He was the one who talked to him about Adachi, and even gave him the video of what happened during the fight against him, which, while making him sick to his stomach, was incredibly helpful. He was also the one who made sure Souji didn’t slip into a complete depressive state as soon as he arrived; being blamed a bit by certain people, combined with arriving in a city when he should be back home to fight Adachi, only to find that Adachi was here and killed many people, as well as torturing many, is enough to send anyone into a deep depression. Without him, Souji would have been screwed. The fact that he knows all about Persona, had the Wild Card ability just like him back home, and Souji knows he has a friend for life, as well as someone he can learn from here. The only reason he’s not maxed is that there’s still more he doesn’t know about him.

Minako Arisato→wildcardette ★★★★☆

Minako was another one to first talk to him when he arrived in Death City, and is apparently the female counterpart to Minato, which was something that gave Souji pause when he first arrived. Especially because if that can happen where you’re a girl in an alternate universe, that’s something to think about for yourself. But if anything, Minako actually seems to be more similar to him then Minato is in certain aspects, and he enjoys talking to her as much as possible. She’s fine with everything, is there to talk to when you need to, and was a blessing in the days after he first arrived, if only because he needed that familiar friendliness to lean on during tough times. When Minato first began to push him towards leading some sort of SEES/Investigation Team, Minako was one of the first he went to to ask questions about it. While she may not have known much about that, they had a very enjoyable discussion about the differences and similarities between their Persona, as well as a discussion about Shadows.

While she and the rest of SEES never needed to face their own Shadow, Minako was interested in the idea, while Souji was interested in the Shadows they battled, along with the evokers. In the end, they talked about the Wild Card ability, both discovering that they had entered the Velvet Room, and then discussing the attendants that they worked with. Both expressed sadness over not having them here, and will probably be asking Minato if he also had an attendant of his own for the room. Minako once again proved lifesaving at the beach, taking time to talk to Souji so he could get out of "babe hunting" with the guys. The only reason this link isn’t maxed is that he’s positive she’s hiding something, and while he won’t press it, he’s very curious as to what it is.

Satoshi "Ash" Ketchum →pkmn_hero ★★☆☆☆

Ash is someone that Souji was apparently good friends with the last time he was here. In the spirit of keeping a friendship like that, he’s been talking to the kid, who is pretty awesome, to say the least. He’s from a world where they have these things called Pokemon, which Souji still isn’t sure if they’re pets or wild animals, or what, since Ash calls them his friends. This led Souji to believe they were people until he was clarified on what a Pokemon was. He considers them like the fox from the shrine, in the end, since they seem to help or harm just like people do. They talked a bit about one in particular while Ash was in the clinic, one called Darkrai, who can give people nightmares. He finds it interesting that even if this Pokemon is pretty scary, Ash still considers it a friend. Souji also commented that he had a gift for drawing; he’ll see if he takes that any further, and if he doesn’t, he’ll try to encourage it.

Yosuke Hanamura→lets_go_partner ★★★★★

Where to even begin. Yosuke is Souji’s best friend back in Inaba, and really, his first best friend ever. He was one of the first to really befriend him when he first came to the town and this as stuck out in his mind the most. When it comes to where Yosuke ranks in his life, he is right below Dojima; thus making him the non-official member of his family. He’s really important in Souji’s life, and he actually finds it tough at times now to do some things without him; if only because doing things reminded him of him before he came to Death City. Back home, Yosuke was the one to really help Souji find the extra evidence to show that Namatame was not in fact the killer, and thus makes him pretty important in the fight against Adachi that Souji was on his way to before he was taken be BREW. Souji missed him terribly when he was first in Death City without him, and while it dulled down over time, it never went away, making him compare a lot of things to him, up to and including people.

But then BREW brought Yosuke here. And Souji, while not wanting his friends and family to be in this war, could not possibly be less then elated that his best friend was here with him. Yosuke seemed to be just as happy to see him, though in a slight different way, and both boys didn’t want to be separated at first, leading to Yosuke crashing on Souji’s couch; something that won’t be changing anytime soon, if Souji has any say in it. There was a problem in the first few days, with Yosuke talking to Kurt and finding out about Souji’s stitches, which he took out for him while they talked about some things back home, and what had happened while Souji was in Death City. Unfortunately, Yosuke grew sick right after arriving, and while Souji nursed him back to health, a few things made themselves very clear to him. One was that his best friend, while from April, did not have the same events happen to him. When Namatame was brought up, Yosuke grew sick when he heard about Adachi and Namatame being innocent, while Souji was horrified at what they had apparently done. It’s still a discussion that needs to happen that neither boy wants to have.

The other thing that made itself known to Souji were the feelings that he had back in Inaba, and had only grew once in Death City, and had grown even more when Yosuke actually showed up there. They’re incredibly confusing, especially with Kurt in the picture, but when Souji kissed Kurt on the cruise after asking Yosuke to be his Weapon, there was a deep feeling of guilt, like he was cheating on someone he’s pretty sure would never reciprocate those feelings anyway. When it comes down to it, he’s got a crush on his best friend, and has absolutely no idea what to do about it, especially now. But for now, he’s happy that Yosuke said yes to being his Weapon, no matter what form he takes.

Junpei Iori→itsnotstupei ★★☆☆☆

Junpei seems to be Arisato x2’s version of Yosuke, if Souji is reading him right. He immediately made friends with Yosuke, which makes sense to him, and also made friends with Souji right away as well. The only problem he really has with him is that him and Yosuke together is absolute trouble, and the two of them are going to get slapped by every female in Death City if they don’t watch out. Otherwise he’s pretty nice, and he can see why he’s best friends with Minato and Minako. Souji thinks it’s a shame that he only knows Minato, but it seems like hearing about and talking to Minako has made him adopt her as another best friend, so that’s nice to see. The one thing that does bother him is that he seems to know the big secret that both Arisatos seem to be hiding, and whatever it is, it can’t be a good one, especially with how Junpei reacted when he saw Minato.

Mary Weather Hargreaves→fortunetelloli ★★★☆☆

Mary is just plain adorable. She just arrived with the new batch of BREW victims, but apparently has her brother and his butler friend here already. Souji has already talked to her a few times, and she even came to visit him and Yosuke when Yosuke was sick, bringing them a batch of cookies. She’s from a time period that Souji can kind of relate to, if only because he’s used to a rigid upbringing, much like she is, so he doesn’t mind explaining things to her that she doesn’t understand. The whole bathing suit fiasco was something he helped as best he could. She reminds him a lot of Nanako, and while he’s never spoken to her brother, he can’t help but wonder how close they are, and if it’s like anything he has in his own life. They also had an interesting discussion about Persona, which he tried to explain to the best of his ability, and this led to one about Tarot cards. It seems that Mary used to use Tarot cards a lot back home, and Souji explained how he used to know people based on what card they were in their link with him, something Mary called a Signifier Card. She’s going to do a reading for him when she gets a new deck.

Mr. Cat→mroowwwrr ★☆☆☆☆

He only met him on the cruise, but OHMYGOD IT’S A LIFE SIZE CAT! How can Souji NOT want to pet him!? He struck up a conversation with him by the bonfire, and while Souji cannot dance well enough to be a ballet dancer, he may have fed his best friend to the wolves by suggesting Mr. Cat go talk to him.

But he really wants to pet the cat. Maybe this is how Kanji felt when he wanted to pet Teddie so bad.

Akihiko Sanada→nicetiming ★☆☆☆☆

Souji really hasn’t had an opportunity to talk to Akihiko, but from what he’s heard from other people, mainly both Arisatos, is that he is also a Persona user, and was one of the original SEES members. He senses more of a relationship between Minako and Akihiko rather than Minato and Akihiko, but that doesn’t always mean something. He would like to talk to him more, if only because of the Persona usage. He also seems to be good friends with Shinjiro Aragaki.

Dave Strider→knightofhashrap ★★☆☆☆

Dave. Oh Dave. Where does he even begin with Dave. Dave was one of those people that Souji struck up a conversation over because he was talking about rhyming and rhythm and Souji knew a little bit about that from his classmate who used to give him riddle tests. Apparently that is not the same thing as Dave was talking about, to which Souji was fine with not talking anymore about it. It seemed like Kurt and Dave got off to a bad start, though, so that was something he kept an eye on; funnily enough, the two are now partnered up, which amuses Souji to no end. It doesn’t help that Dave can turn into a sword, which is Souji’s preferred weapon of choice; as well as he can get along with other people, even a badass sword isn’t enough for him to want to try to work together.

Dave also happens to be one of the people who type on the DEMISE network in different colored font, as well as spelling and grammar mistakes all over the place. Not that he has much to say on that, but anyone who writes in such a way is someone to keep an eye on, so Souji keeps a careful eye on the whole group.

Ryotaro Dojima→smokersona ★★★★★

Dojima is Souji’s uncle, and father of Nanako, his little cousin. After everything that his family has gone through, Souji was very surprised and shocked to find that both of them were in Death City, and apparently had been for a very long time. Back home, Dojima is a police detective with the Inaba PD, something that takes him away from home for long periods of time, and something that Souji had to work through with Nanako. But back home, Souji was able to talk to his uncle multiple times, and he slowly began to understand things about his uncle that helped him over time. In the end, Dojima bought him his own mug, so that they could have coffee together as a family. Here in Death City, though, Dojima is a Weapon, partnered with Roy Mustang, who is head of the Watch for the city. The two of them live with Nanako in a Death City Heights apartment, and it seems the two of them have been partnered for awhile now. When Souji first arrived, he found it a little odd, especially when he came to visit all of them; he’d been there earlier to see Nanako, but when he came back to talk to his uncle, the man that he considers a father was awkward around him until they finally got settled. Not that Souji could blame him, seeing as the man had always been like that, but he had thought they were over it.

But he’s family, and now that the awkwardness of being here before, leaving, and now coming back with no memory of the place is gone, he’s glad that he has him here, especially with Nanako here as well. Souji is painfully aware of his uncle’s flaws, so when the whole situation came up with Mr. Mustang and the fact that the two of them are together ten years from now, he knew that he would have to help the best he could. Maybe not get them together, but get them to work out their problems and talk to each other instead of not. He knows how is uncle can be, and when it comes to finding out you're in a gay relationship in the future when you're still mourning the death of your wife...well. He can understand the surprise and discomfort. He knows his uncle, and seeing as how Roy Mustang is similar, he’s been using the same tools on both of them. He loves his uncle, and if anything happens to him, he’ll have to be strong once more for the whole family; he won’t have them lie in a hospital room like they were when Souji last saw them in Inaba.

Jules de Ferrier→dofaye ★★★☆☆

Jules was someone Souji had only talked to over the network, but he seemed to be a good friend of his cousin, Nanako, and if she liked him, then so would he. Over time, Souji really got a sense of who he was, though, and he’s found that he likes him just as much as his cousin does. The one thing that he is worried about is that he is now partnered with his cousin; while Souji doesn’t want her fighting in the war, he respects her decision. Jules is a free target on the other hand, and he’s had him promise him that he won’t be letting Nanako fight, and that they’ll use their powers for something else to help in the war effort. Because of this, and how close he is, Souji considers him a part of the family now, which seemed to surprise Jules. But Souji is learning that being told they’re a part of a family here seems to surprise a lot of people; he can understand that, seeing as he never considered himself a part of one until he went to stay with the Dojimas in Inaba. But Jules is a part of the family as long as he’s Nanako’s Weapon, and Souji will look out for him as much as he looks out for any of them.

Tavros Nitram→slghtlylessfake ★☆☆☆☆

Tavros is another one of those "trolls" who writes in a different colored font text on the network. When Souji was asking for information about Kurt’s attacker, he asked the group of them what they might know. Tavros responded that he didn’t understand what Souji was asking, and who the person might be; Souji had to explain that he was asking the group, not singling out anyone specific. Tavros then proceeded to say humans were nice and helpful when Souji told him to be careful and watch out. This is another one that Souji will be looking out for, just in case.

Rise Kujikawa→forthecamera ★★★★★

Rise is one of Souji’s really good friends from back home in Inaba, and it seems like she’s been here for a very long time, if her information packet is to be believed. She was apparently here during the whole Adachi incident, and from even before that, so. Souji doesn’t like thinking about how long she’s been here with and without everyone else from the Investigation Team. But he’s happy that he has such a good friend here, and for awhile she was his only friend from back home. She understood him completely when they talked a little bit about their missing Persona, and how some might find it crazy that they were complaining about a lack of voices in their heads. Though she might not get how important it is to Souji having more than one versus just the one for her, but he doesn’t expect her to anyway. She manages a restaurant in Death City called Northern Lights, and is very content to do so, letting other people here manage the cooking and other food prep, which Souji is sure everyone is thankful for.

It was at Northern Lights that he had his talk with her about how Minato wants him to take over the whole SEES/Investigation Team thing that frankly, he still has no idea what to do about. Rise brought up a very good point, that it might not be a good idea to make a group that would be doing the work that two groups already established in Death City do; the Watch and the Detective Agency. Souji agreed with her, and because of that he’s now trying to figure out a way to have this group, but to do something different with it, rather then let them become cliquish. Rise is now partnered with Ran Fan, someone Souji has not spoken to before, but he plans to. The one thing that really sticks out in his mind with Rise now is that, while she’s still the same girl from back home, she seems older now. Wiser, and more subdued then she used to be. Something about that makes Souji sad in a way that he can’t describe.

Sollux Captor→2ollux ★☆☆☆☆

Sollux is one of those on the network that writes in different colored text, along with the usual weird spelling and grammar that takes Souji a bit to understand what it is they are exactly saying. He also speaks with a lisp, though Souji doesn’t care about that kind of thing. After Kurt was hurt, Souji went looking for information, asking the group if they knew what was going on. Sollux replied, telling Souji to get in touch with someone named Karkat, who is apparently the leader of the “trolls”. Souji also met Sollux in person on the cruise, and seeing the other in apparent seasickness distress, gave him one of his seasickness bracelets, explaining how they work, since he was wearing one himself. He’s a nice guy, all things considered, and was pretty dry and sarcastic when they talked; Souji has no problem being that way back.

Misa Amane→islovedbydeath ★☆☆☆☆

To start with, Misa talks about herself in the third person, something Souji learned very early on in talking to her. It’s really not that annoying as some might think, but it takes a bit to get used to, at least right off the bat. They bonded over living in Japan, as Souji has moved around a lot with his parents, and has lived in the different regions that Misa has lived in as well. She seems to be some kind of idol, much like Rise, which he finds interesting, because he’s never heard of her, and it seems she must be from a different version of Earth. She also spoke at length about some god named “Kira”, which Souji quizzed her on to get information about. Apparently he killed the people who killed her parents, and so she’s happy about that; Souji guessed that he would be too, if only because it seems if you disagree with her about Kira, that’s the way to get a reverse social link rather quick. Once the conversation came full circle, because it seems that she can’t hold a conversation without it being all about Kira, Souji said goodbye. He’s going to wait a bit before talking to her again; hopefully he can learn about her, rather than anyone else.

Phoenix Wright→thirteenthace ★★★☆☆

He’s only met Phoenix once in person, but he’s spoken to him multiple times over the network by now. Souji finds him very familiar, though he’s still trying to figure out who he reminds him of. But he really enjoys talking to him, as they’ve covered a range of topics, including games, music, and family, to cover a few. Phoenix brought up his daughter, Trucy, and while he said she’s not family by blood, Souji said he understood; and he does, because the Investigation Team is like his family, even if they’re not at all related by blood. But he likes Phoenix, in that way that he knows they might not have ever talked if he met him on the street, but he’s a nice guy, and he can tell that he cares about the people in Death City, even if all he does is work as a janitor. But Souji has worked as a janitor before too, and he knows how the job can be. Boring and easy enough that it gives you plenty of time to think.

Maito Gai→spandexisyouth ★☆☆☆☆

He and Rise apparently bonded over their love of spicy food. Tasting this spicy food almost put Souji in the clinic. Otherwise a nice guy.

Date Masamune→getyourgunson ★☆☆☆☆

Date is a relatively calm individual, from what Souji has seen so far. They had a brief talk while Yosuke was sick, which Minako also hijacked, and they both told him about Persona and Shadows. Afterward, Date said that what Souji was doing was the right thing to do. After his talk with Yosuke about what he did in his timeline, he’s now more sure than ever that Date is correct in that assumption.

Kurt Hummel→couragemantra ★★★★☆

Kurt is a young man that arrived in the same group of newcomers as Souji, and while he didn’t see him in the group, they did talk over the network, first when Kurt made a post to introduce himself, and then when Souji came on and was asking if there was anyone from back home in Death City. In the end, both of them wanted to explore the city, and so they met up outside of the C.C. and went for a walk around the city. During this walk, they covered a multitude of topics, the biggest being that Souji had apparently been here before, and that Kurt, while homesick, had been going through a tough time back home because of his sexuality. Souji, obviously, did not judge him on this, and will never judge him on that, especially considering his own feelings in that regard, as well as the friends he has. The two became better friends after Souji taught Kurt how to wield a sword, and continued on from there in a pretty fast forming friendship. He really likes him as a friend, and considers him second only to Yosuke.

It was when Vriska attacked Kurt, leaving him bleeding in the street and unable to speak, that Souji started to confront his own feelings when it came to him, which he found to be almost as conflicted as his feelings about Yosuke. Of course, Kurt never hid his crush very well, and while he has always seen that, he’s a little used to people having crushes on him, so he didn’t think he would ever do anything about it, and eventually it would go away and they could just be friends. When Yosuke showed up, though, Souji’s feelings for his friends were brought back into play, leaving him extremely confused. The fact that Kurt told Yosuke how he felt (even if Souji doesn’t know that’s what happened) didn’t seem to help matters, as now Yosuke seems to be pushing Souji to be with Kurt. At this point, Souji isn’t sure what to think; there’s what he should do, and there’s what he wants to do, and finally, there’s what he will do. Really, Souji feels more like the inexperienced 17 year old that he is when he is with Kurt, and while he enjoys his time with him, he also dislikes feeling like he doesn’t have control over what he’s doing. It may be just the guilt talking, but he’s slowly getting rid of those feelings, finding that Kurt is just as accepting of him as Yosuke is.

Which makes it worse, actually, but that’s a different story. All of this ended up with Souji kissing Kurt on the cruise, and being completely happy and guilty and utterly confused about the whole thing, and not sure where it will go from there. The only way Kurt’s link might be maxed out at this point is if Souji opened up to him, and like hell is that happening right now.

Kino→isnotbeautiful ★★☆☆☆

Kino is a cute kid that Yosuke made friends with first, and then Souji did. Kino came over to visit Yosuke while he was sick, and the three of them struck up a friendship. Souji also talked to her when she made a network post saying that she couldn’t fight in another person’s war; something he could understand, and he tried to talk her into possibly working in some other capacity to help, instead of fighting. And on the topic of being a girl, Souji thinks it’s hilarious that Yosuke didn’t know that Kino was one; but then, it took him forever for Naoto as well, so there you go. He also talked to her on the cruise, and they had a nice time talking and being out in the sun. In the end, Souji feels that he has found a real friend in Kino, though once again there are some things that she is hiding from the world. But he can’t really blame her, considering he’s doing the same thing.

Kanaya Maryam→wantrainbowwine ☆☆☆☆☆

Souji and Kanaya haven’t actually spoken, but after what she did to Vriska for Kurt, he really would like to talk to her. And maybe say that she did a good job, but he won’t let anyone else ever know that.

Sheryl Nome→virgoborn ★☆☆☆☆

Sheryl is a girl that Souji went up to on the “babe hunt” and supposedly hit on, though it ended up being more of an apology for what he and his friends were doing. She in turn said that he shouldn’t have to apologize, since he’d already gotten her. Well. Souji doesn’t know about that, but she is a nice, pretty girl, and he’s very okay with sitting down and talking with her right now. Because contrary to belief, Souji does in fact appreciate women and can be very flirtatious at times.

Nanako Dojima→junesplz ★★★★★

Nanako is Souji’s young cousin, but she calls him big bro, and he calls her little sis or sister, and that basically defines the relationship he has with her. He loves her unconditionally, and she does the same. Back home, Souji used to show her magic tricks to make her smile, and she really is one of the people that he can be laid back and be his own slightly derpy self with. When she was kidnapped, he was so angry that he almost killed the man who did it with his friends while they were in the hospital; luckily he remembered some bits of evidence at the end that changed his mind, and he was able to convince everyone else to rethink things as well. But Souji has been through hell and Heaven with her, and was there in the hospital, holding her hand when she died. If she hadn’t come back to life, he doesn’t know what he would do with himself; he doesn’t like to think about what he would have to do with his uncle, either, if they had to live without her.

But she doesn’t seem to know about that stuff here in Death City, and Souji is glad for that. He doesn’t want to tell her about the months she was gone from their home; of how he basically broke down every day after coming home from fighting through her Heaven dungeon, searching for her while Dojima was in the hospital. The last time he saw her was when she was still in the hospital back home, but they were all optimistic about possibly having a Christmas party with her. Here in Death City she’s alive, healthy, and safe, and Souji will die before seeing any of those three compromised. He loves her so much, and he’ll do anything for her, whether it be building the biggest sand castle with her, or accepting that she wants to help with the fight and now has a Weapon to wield.

At the same time, no matter how big she gets, he’ll always see her as the little girl who would welcome him home every day with “Welcome home big bro!” She’s the one that he will go and try to find a watermelon so they can smash it together, and he counts himself lucky that he arrived in Death City to celebrate her birthday. While she sais that him being there was the best present she could get, Souji is still on the lookout for the perfect gift for her to have. He loves his little sister, plain and simple, and that will never change.

Lili Rochefort→donttelldaddy ★☆☆☆☆

Oh boy. Lili. She was looking for some entertainment, and Souji happened to start talking to her; she’s extremely hot, she had that rich girl thing down to an art form, and she wanted to do some sparring. What was not to love with that? At first she reminded him of Ai, who he will always have fond memories of, no matter what, but as he’s talked to her more, Souji’s found that she does a lot of fighting back home, maybe more than most people who aren’t in some kind of army. She’s beautiful, smart, and deadly, and that is something that he will never forget. She seems to like teasing him, though, and Souji really doesn’t mind all that much. During the cruise, she wanted to find something exciting to do; this might have involved sharks, Souji wasn’t too clear on that subject, but in talking, he learned that she grew up in a beach house, which explains a lot to him. All in all, she’s someone he can see getting to know a little better, though he’s not sure how other parties might feel about that.

Kuroro Lucifer→alphaspider ★☆☆☆☆

Kuroro is someone that Souji has mixed feelings on, and not in a good way. On one hand, he’s nice to Nanako, and she likes him well enough, so he knows he’s not a bad guy, per say. But on the other, he enjoys teasing Souji as Yosuke with annoying nicknames, which is something Souji feels like he would be fine with if it was from anyone else but him.

The biggest thing was that when Souji first arrived, Kuroro was the one to bring up everything that happened with Adachi, complete with how the previous Souji didn’t tell anyone about what was going on with him back home before it was too late, and Adachi had already killed both Nanako and Dojima. Seeing as he was told this about half an hour after he first arrived, this came as a huge shock to Souji, and when Kuroro proceeded to question if he should blame this Souji or not for what the previous one did, Souji has already taken on the blame for what happened, even if he wasn’t here. If anything, Kuroro represents the guilt Souji feels for being here and not being back home, fighting Adachi and making sure no one else dies.

Vriska Serket→visioneightfold ☆☆☆☆☆

Another one that Souji actually hasn’t had a chance to talk to just yet, but that’s only because after she almost killed Kurt, no one actually knew who did it beyond Kanaya, and by then she had already taken care of it. If anything, Souji would like to talk to her; she’s one of those “trolls” and they all seem so very interesting. Souji did talk a little bit to Mustang about her, and the fact that she was pretty much getting away with what she had done for the moment, and he knows that Mustang can understand him when he says that he’ll be keeping an eye on her. In his mind, she could become the next Adachi in Death City, and Souji won’t just stay back and let that happen.

Princess Aurora→princessbriars ★☆☆☆☆

Souji seems to have a thing for picking up princesses in this place as friends; first it was Rapunzel, and now it’s Aurora. They talked briefly over the network, both of them expressing interest in meeting each other in person, as the communicators seem so very impersonal to the both of them. Souji finally got that chance when he saw her out on the beach during the cruise ship, and he had a really great time with her, helping her out into the ocean and showing her that there was nothing to be afraid about when it came to this vast expanse of water. She seems like a really good listener, and he kind of can’t believe his good luck when it comes to meeting these people who are just so incredibly friendly and are genuinely interested in what’s going on. He hopes that he can spend more time with her in the future, even if it’s just sitting at a coffee shop and talking.

Michelle Cheung→papersniper ★☆☆☆☆

This was another person that Souji was supposed to try and pick up on the “babe hunt” but ended up finding a friend. He went over and asked her about the book she was reading, and after a bit of talk about it, Souji told her about the series that he used to read back home; The Manly Series. While he couldn’t remember the name of the author, he was pretty sure he was Japanese, and this got the two of them into talking about books and their shared love of reading. If anything, Souji might see if she wants to set up a book club of some kind. If Death City can have a cooking club, then why not a book club? He knows a lot of people who could stand to do some more reading, especially now that there’s the time for it.

Aradia Megido→just_0k ★☆☆☆☆

Aradia is another one of those trolls that Souji has talked to briefly. She seems nice enough, as they talked briefly about Rise’s information packet that people could go through and would help to answer some of their questions. Souji also told her how long he had been in Death City so far, and that was the end of that. Again, someone else he’s going to keep an eye open for, if only because she seemed nice and willing to talk, and that’s something Souji looks for in a friend.

Roy Mustang→thewarisover ★★★★☆

When it comes to Roy Mustang, Souji knows exactly how he feels about the man while not knowing where he stands with him in the other man’s eyes. Mustang has one of the best poker faces Souji as ever seen, and that’s saying something as he has a pretty good poker face. While he may not show it, he’s really amused when they’re having a conversation, and it’s more about the facial tics rather then what is actually being said. But when it comes down to what is being said, Souji knows that Mustang is a man he can trust. When Souji first arrived, Mustang was the one to greet him, and tell him a little bit about the last time he was here, as well give a vague impression that the previous Souji had talked about some things with him, and that they were actually good friends. He’s also the Meister to his uncle Dojima’s Weapon, and they live together in one of the partner housing apartments with his Dojima’s daughter, Nanako.

The thing is, it’s very apparent that they’ve been partners for awhile now, even before Souji showed up the first time, he guesses. Bur Roy is a man who likes to play at being enigmatic; the kind of person you can’t help being drawn to because of their charisma, but incredibly hard to get to really know. Souji knows; he’s the same kind of person, and seeing the similarities in the other man makes it easier for him to talk to him. If Souji had to say, his conversations with Roy are some of his better conversations, if only because there’s a very large flow of information coming from both sides. Souji keeps him up to date with people, as well as the SEES/Investigation Team that Minato wants him to make, and Mustang keeps him informed on what Watch stuff is happening. Of course, Souji fully intends to join the Watch; he just feels like he’s useless if he doesn’t have a Weapon yet. Now that Yosuke is here though, that should change very soon.

Otherwise, he really just likes the man. When Souji told Roy that he considers him family, he wasn’t lying, and he wasn’t even making a reference to the relationship that he and Dojima will apparently have in ten years. He’s like a younger uncle to him, one who can understand what he’s going through, if what he has seen from when Souji talked to Hughes at the party is any indicator. He visited Roy twice when he was in the clinic after the accident; once on his own, where he promised Roy he would help him make things better with his uncle, and the second time with Nanako so they could teach her chess. But even before that, there were some things that Souji had questions on, and when he met Roy at the Watch office, they had a very interesting talk; Souji telling him a little bit about Shadows and Persona, and Mustang showing him an alchemic circle and explaining how it works. That was so interesting to Souji, and he was able to find ways that alchemy and Persona share the same traits with. Roy is just a great guy, one that Souji knows he can go to anytime if he needs an adult to help him out, whether by talking or by brute force.

Shinjiro Aragaki→adiosasshole ★☆☆☆☆

Shinjiro-senpai is a friend of Arisato x2s, but he seems to have come from the universe where Minako is the leader rather than Minato. He hasn’t talked to him as much, though it seems he’s partnered with Kanaya already, which Souji finds very interesting. He seems like a gruff guy, but he has also talked about him briefly with Minako, and Souji’s very intuitive when it comes down to these kinds of things. He does hope the best for the two of them, if Shinjiro ever figures it out.

Toph Bei Fong→terra_inflexus ★☆☆☆☆

Souji has seen Toph around the network, but she seems to be very busy all the time with important Watch things, so he never wants to bother her with idle chit chat; it seems like something she wouldn’t like. His chance to talk to her came when she was complaining that there were a lot of people using just text on the screen, and being blind, she wasn’t able to read it, so she didn’t understand half of what was happening. Souji fixed this for her by reconfiguring her communicator so that it would read the text post out loud to her. This was done pretty quickly, but Souji would love to talk to her some more at some point.

Feferi Peixes→redefinescull ★☆☆☆☆

This is another one of those trolls that type in colored font on the network. This one, though, seems to be Souji’s “troll”, or whatever that is supposed to mean. Apparently they do something that’s close to the zodiac and being a Pisces places Souji squarely into this one’s area of expertise. He’s not sure if he should be amused or worried.

Ludwig (Germany)→thebestandwurst ★☆☆☆☆

Germany is both a person and a country, which seems to be something a lot of the people in Death City are. He’s also the one in charge of training every morning, and Souji has seen him around the training fields quite a lot. He’s a nice guy, if a it uptight and military at times, but Souji thinks that that must just be how Germany is, considering its’ history. Before, when Souji was asking about guns over the network, Germany offered to teach him how to use a firearm; of course he gladly took him up on it, and he plans to come to the guy really soon and ask him how to use one.

Maes Hughes→everyonecried ★★☆☆☆

Hughes, from what he has heard and what he has heard, seems to be an upstanding family man, and is a really nice guy. Souji got the chance to talk to him during the party that Clovis threw, and it was nice, talking to this man who made it very comfortable for you to talk about yourself. When Souji learned that he worked gathering information for his country’s military, Souji knew that the man’s charisma was why he was probably one of the best at his job. Just as well, it turns out that he also knows Mr. Mustang; they’re best friends, and they worked together in the military back home. Souji pumped Hughes for as much information as he could get, but it wasn’t much at the time.

Really, the biggest thing that Souji gets whenever he talks to or hears about the other man is this sense and feeling of family; even if the man’s family isn’t here, he’s making due with the best he has, which is his best friend, and other people he knows from home, combined with the friends he has made here. Hughes reminds Souji a little of himself, but most of all, Souji knows that this is how a father should be and act.

John Egbert→conheir ★☆☆☆☆

John is, once again, one of those who types in the crazy color font, though his is less crazy then the others. He and Souji talked briefly when Souji was asking for information, and when John expressed concern about Kurt, Souji told him to not worry so much. They haven’t talked much since, but he’s someone that Souji enjoyed talking to and would very much like to do so again.

Alejandro Perez (Cuba)→littlestcommie ★☆☆☆☆

Souji doesn’t know much about Cuba beyond that he was the one to throw the birthday party for Nanako. And that makes him okay in Souji’s book.

Taro Namatame→failsavior ★★★☆☆

While he may not hold the same hatred towards Namatame now that he did when they were back home and about to throw him into the TV, Souji is still up in the air about this man. He knows that he wants to do the right thing and help people, but while he may have failed with that back home, here in Death City he seems to be doing really well at playing the hero. The two really connected when Namatame wanted to go visit the Kishin chamber where Adachi is held in his suspended state, and Souji asked if he could tag along, seeing as that was something he needed to see himself, after everything that happened. The two of them went there, and while it was awkward at first, as soon as Souji focused on Namatame, he found it easier to deal with.

The two of them talked about Mayumi Yamano, and Namatame told him how great of a person she was, and how the two of them could do amazing things if they set their minds on it. Souji opened up a little by talking about how he was taken from the middle of battle, and how guilty he feels about being here rather then there. Now with Yosuke here, telling him that they had thrown him into the TV when Souji knows that’s not true, he’s even more worried about his best friend, ad this man’s fragile emotional state.
