don't know if anyone reads this anymore, but i'm putting together a reading list and i'm trying to find sociological stuff about water. there's so much about water out there, but most of it isn't by sociologists. if you know of any good books or articles of sociological import, do let me know. thanks!

I've read sociological articles about this, but I'll be darned if I can locate them to share. This article (and others like it) might be a great thread to start unraveling for a discussion of water rights:

And by 'article', I mean web page. I haven't gone to bed yet. It's 6am here. Sorry!

I would imagine all the tons and tons of books and documentaries about the upcoming water shortages would have a sociological view.

Amazon has tons.

Blue gold is one title that pops to mind

You might also want to try searching for articles that are based in an anthropological and/or ethnological perspective. While I have not done the search myself, I would be floored if there was nothing in the anthropology lit about water, and I'd guess that at least some of it would be useful for sociology, too.

I Googled "greenpeace and water." I don't know if any of the results that came up would help, but they are interesting if this is related to environmental sociology.

"Bottled Water - The pure commodity in the age of branding" by Richard Wilk

It's in the Journal of Consumer Culture and is about why we buy since the last ten years so much bottled water while in lots of countries tap water is just as good and healthy. There are lot's of explanations but one of them is explaned true Beck's Risk Society.
