ISIS - Wavering Radiant

It's nothing short of amazing.
In the Absence of Truth is a good record. Transitional though. They had developed a sound which reached it's peak with Oceanic. After you make something as totally epic as Oceanic you either stop making records or you do something else. They did something else and it was interesting and now they've taken what they've ( Read more... )

While the new tunes stood up to the old tunes when I saw them live, the new album doesn't catch me like ItAoT did. Maybe because ItAoT was the first album I heard so all others are compared to my first impressions of that. Not saying that WR isn't good, because it is (I still like it better than Oceanic, which I just think sounds muddy), just still not my favorite. Glad to hear you are enjoying it though. Now start listening to Jesu!

I think it's fantastic! I DO listen to Jesu. Do they have a new one as well? I also got some Pelican which is great and some Sleep. BTW have you heard a Japanese noise/sludge band called Boris? I have Feedbacker and I adore it. I'm trying to find some more stuff but I can't find it.

Jesu likes to release stuff through his website. I just ordered his new one (Infinity) that way. He's also got a noisier project with Aaron from Isis called Grey Machine but I'm kind of waiting to hear more from that before I get excited. I've been meaning to get some Sleep (hah! No pun intended) and I do like what I've heard from Pelican. Not crazy about what I heard from Boris. You can find most of their albums around town since that stuff is big out here. Probably easiest to find their album they did with SUNN O))).
October's Fall Into Darkness Festival at Berbati's is shaping up nicely. I'm hoping that my band with Jaime and Twayn can get 4 or 5 songs ready by then so I can try to land us an opening slot (we're pretty sludge-y).

Picked up Sleep's Holy Mountain. Pretty good stuff.
Need to pick up some Electric Wizard...heard stuff on Pandora that I really liked.
Also got the first and the last albums by BIGELF and they are a lot of fun. Sort of like Jellyfish meets Black Sabbath, but that doesn't really do them justice. Really fantastic though.
Also picked up my first Sunn O))) CD which is called Black1. Haven't listened to it yet, but it's got a couple Black Metal guys on it that I've been listening to lately (Leviathan and Xasthur) so I thought I'd give it a shot.
