Wikia pagePersonality:
Upon first glance, many people are surprised by how apathetic he seems. A good word to describe him is “robotic”, as his expression never seems to change at all. It is hard to tell what he really feels, or if he means what he says with his robot-like behaviour. For this reason, he isn't considered as the best guest for talk shows, outside of acting. To an extent, he doesn’t seem to notice this but when Shinra commented that he should be smiling, he replied that he was smiling.
Along with his quiet self comes the distant aura he has. While contributing to his popularity among his fans, it also makes him hard to approach, leaving him with few people that are truly close to him, if you don’t count his brother. Kasuka said it's because of Shizuo setting a bad example with his unconstrained emotions since they were kids. Thus, he learned to be his brother’s opposite, apathetic and not letting his emotions overtook him.
But that doesn’t mean he’s incapable of talking. Kasuka can carry on a conversation decently enough and will always be polite. The problem is that with how hard it is to read his mind and emotions, anyone conversing with him wouldn’t be sure if he really cares about their talk. Despite that, he’s also a kind person. He stated that he would prefer to stop the tears of a girl from falling, even when she’s threatening his life, without being dishonest.
Although he’s rather stoic and it is said by others that he doesn’t seem to understand people, he’s also surprisingly perceptive and can tell what a person is thinking. When he doesn’t, Kasuka will simply observe them until he does. On the other hand, he can be very oblivious in certain matters, particularly when it comes to emotions. A good example of this was when Ruri pinned him to the bed and he thought he was feeling nervousness, not attraction.
Despite his deadpan and quiet nature, he can be surprisingly quirky and weird. Some examples of his weirdness include scaring away a stalker with silence for over 20 hours, causing them to surrender from the pressure of it, nearly cutting off his finger without resisting when he got ‘threatened’. That said, he also still has the will to live, and has calmly stated that he still has his reasons to keep on living.
All in all, he’s a quiet man with hard to read emotions. Within the extent of how emotionless he is compared to normal people (not just anyone can reach this level normally), he’s quite abnormal and knows what people say about him. That would be why he chose to become an actor when he got scouted, for the chance to feel the emotions that his roles-from heroes, romantic lead to even killers--have. He feels incomplete and thus seeks out these emotions this way. Because of that, he has been described as a “monster” by Ruri. He’s “a monster that wants to become a human.”
Strengths:
Physical: Athletic and healthy, since it’s been said that Kasuka did his own stunts in his acting roles. He’s also incredibly good looking. On more than one occasion, the novels stated his incredibly handsome looks and that it seems like he’s the “perfect male who had just stepped out of a shoujo manga”.
Mental & Emotional: As a successful and brilliant actor, he’s incredibly flexible when it comes to the different types of roles and emulating their emotions to a frighteningly high degree. Due to his subdued emotions, almost nothing seems to shake him. Even if his life was threatened by a killer, he’d still not feel fear and instead just state his calm observations. But even if it’s hard to tell, he can still feel emotions, it’s just hard for him to understand them like any normal person would.
Another thing worth mentioning are his observation skills and intuition. He managed to accurately guess Ruri’s reason when she was about to tell him about herself, and he quickly cut it off. He learned how to read people and attempt to understand their motivations based on his experience with his many, varied roles and from meeting many people in showbiz.
Judging from how he managed to make 1.2 billion yen from investments, he’s also pretty smart as well.
Weaknesses:
Physical: For all his physical fitness, Kasuka’s still a human being, so he has all the usual limitations and weaknesses of being one. Which means he can be killed, maimed, injured, all the bad things that hurt.
Mental: For all his skills and knowledge, Kasuka can be surprisingly non-resistant. Once without advance notice, the studio sent men to pretend to be yakuza and threaten him into cutting his finger. Only for him to go with it and pick up a cleaver (fortunately, the staff interfered).
Emotional: Perhaps the greatest weakness of his. After watching Shizuo’s unconstrained emotions and diluting his own at a young age, Kasuka does not understand them very well and has stated as much. He knows about being fond of his brother, but except for that, he honestly doesn’t understand emotions. For them, it seems impossible to guess his thoughts.

First Person: (NOTE: If this isn’t enough, I’m willing to do Q&A)
[ To anyone that knows him, his voice might sound familiar or startling.] Welcome to Luceti, new arrivals. Or ‘New Feathers’, which is term we use for anyone that arrived for this current cycle. I’m here to let you know about the Guide, as maintained by Raine-san. It should answer most of your questions. There is also the Welcome Center’s service for finding available lodgings and answering any remaining questions you may still have.
[ To most people, this is how he seems to be. But certain Ikebukuro people would be aware of how he truly is. This is just a role and he seems so genuine.] My name is Yuuhei Hanejima and it’s nice to meet you all, despite the circumstances. As I’ve been here for a while, I will try answering your questions to the best of my knowledge. If I can’t, I can try to direct you to someone who can.
I hope we will get along, whether we’re new or long time residents. Regardless of our seniority and experiences, we’re in the same boat and it’s better if we get along for the future experiments.
[ Only when he stops the broadcast and closes the journal, his expression falls back into its usual blank look.]
Third Person:
Yet again, another person had been surprised by him. For most people, it was from seeing the differences between himself and his persona as Yuuhei Hanejima in the village. With how he acted in his New Feathers welcoming post, the New Feathers got the greatest shock whenever they met him in person. But there were some people who recognised him as the celebrity and were more surprised that his brother was Shizuo Heiwajima.
He walked along the well-used path, his expression not giving away any hint of what was on his mind. It might not look like it, but Kasuka was paying attention to his surroundings. He knew the area fairly well, what he saw as he walked were the people. Fellow residents or prisoners, as the actor had overheard the word being used from quietly watching the journals, doing their daily routine in the village.
His pace never slowed down as he saw the villagers and their expressions, briefly, before they were out of sight. Some of the emotions and expressions they showed were familiar to him, whether from seeing those before on other people or watching himself act them out.
From being bored by the things that were to do between the experiments and drafts, happiness in being with their loved ones, and all the way to sadness for different reasons, and so forth. If there was a sad person around, Kasuka would slow down his steps to look at them, carefully out of the corner of his eyes. He could make guesses about why anyone would be sad. A friend or family member leaving Luceti, being kidnapped by the droids, an unfortunate fight between loved ones or death, those were the first assumptions he thought of. He would want to stay around and learn more about that person, but then Kasuka would remember why he was outside in the first place: Visiting his brother at work.
When he was merely a moment away from entering the building, he could hear sounds and stopped. A glance over his shoulder and there they were. Droids, coming to take someone away for personal experimentations, and judging from where they were heading...
It was his turn.
Kasuka did not resist, knowing it’d be useless if he did. He had watched other kidnappings before over the journals and not once had anyone been successful in evading capture. As far as he was aware of, but with how close he was to his brother, there was a glimmer of something inside him. Before the droids knocked him unconscious, he wondered if that ‘something’ was hope.
