I don't like to give credit, but I think you nailed Solaris that time. Tarkovsky is so alive in the woods and so bored in the spaceship, the biggest scene is like a twenty-minute conversation with the lights out. Did you like the final shot?

the 19-year-old shares a bed with her father and they french-kiss goodbye their relationship? creepy much, Bergman?

That scene sounds really good.

I can't remember the final shot. Nailed Solaris as in 'got it just right' or as in 'got it just wrong'? Agreed about the woods and the spaceship. The flashbacks also weren't adequate to give us an understanding of the husband/wife relationship and why we should care about them being 'reunited'.

It was a good scene but very very creepy. But Bergman really likes to push the limit of skin-crawliness to make a point. I kind of wish everyone died in the end.
