I've had the privilege of being able to eat quite a bit of home-cooked food since I've gotten here.

K-san made Christmas dinner the other day for me! <3 EVERYTHING, from the teriyaki chicken ( Read more... )

What other fish would you say Fugu compares to in flavor and texture? I would not dare, with all the horrific warnings the USA news always tosses at us about Fugu.

Hmm... I don't know the name of the fish in English - it's a HUUUGE fish, and pretty expensive in terms of dollar per kilo (like 10+ bucks a kg type). I like the fact that the meat doesn't break up when it's boiled, and it still retains the bounciness of fish meat. 8D

Fugu in english is puffer fish, and it's relative, the cow fish which is sort of cute because it's got two little horns on it's forehead.

And yet, we make lanterns out of them over here for beach themed bars. Puffed up of course.

No no, I can't remember the name of the fish that's comparable to fugu!

(But yes, the power of google says it's threadfin salmon - it's huge, and it's expensive, and it's delish!)

COW FISH!
