Characters: Pegasus, Siegfried
Location: Their house
Time: A few days after Siegfried pulls a vanishing act.
Notes: Siegfried gets bored with hiding and decides to go home.

Several days passed before Siegfried at last decided it was time to return home. He hadn't come to any firm conclusions about anything. Thoughts of magic's existence still left him uncomfortable and fretting over his state of mind. But Siegfried was not a man to deny the evidence of his senses. As much as he hated to admit it, he eventually came to the conclusion that there were some things on Soeldei that logic and science would not be able to explain.

The days at the hostel proved soothing to Siegfried's fraught nerves. He would sit with the window open and listen to life going on outside. It was calming. Quiet. Boring.

As he let the world pass him by, Siegfried found himself listening almost expectantly for a bird to twitter out, "Nut." He studied the walls of his room and found them dull. The garden trellis painted upon the walls back at the house were so much more interesting. He wondered if his roses had bloomed yet. He missed talking about his day over supper, trying not to laugh over ridiculous jokes, and fencing on the roof.

In short, Siegfried wanted to go home.

Once he came to that conclusion, Siegfried wasted no time suiting actions to thoughts. He gathered his things went home.

The outside of the house look unchanged. Inside was another matter. A fine layer of dust had settled in. Pegasus never had been much of a housekeeper. Siegfried hadn't either, but he'd forced himself to learn. Someone had to be the responsible one. Smiling a little, Siegfried deposited his bags in his room and retrieved a dusting cloth. He expected that Pegasus had gotten lost in his art and not noticed a little bit of dust.

However as Siegfried's dusting took him to Pegasus's art desk, he noticed that it, too, was covered in dust. That wasn't right at all. This was the one place Pegasus was likely to keep clean. And yet it looked like he hadn't even come near his paints. The rest of the house being ignored Siegfried could understand, but this was puzzling.

"Seed?" said a hopeful voice, interrupting Siegfried's thoughts.

"Surely you have not been neglected as well," Siegfried murmured. The bird seemed in decent shape, but still Siegfried refilled its food and water dishes.

Once everything was tidied up enough to suit Siegfried, he put on a kettle for tea and sat down with his expense sheets, adding his funds back in. He would have to find out later if Pegasus kept receipts. Knowing Pegasus, it wasn't likely. However, he could be wrong. Pegasus had surprised him before.
