I like the quote from C.S. Lewis--I used it with my ninth graders in 1995 to see what sense they could make of it....I think they are still trying to figure it out. I am convinced that Ianto Jones from any dimension, universe, or imagination would be a) beautiful, b) intelligent, and c)loved by Jack. I loved the passing of the years recorded one voice mail at a time--Ianto's essential character really comes through in these discussions. It will be interesting to see how Ianto ends up in Torchwood, if he does? But, it is also interesting, though not surprising, that Jack turns to Ianto in times of stress or dire need. There is the undercurrent of attraction although it is subtle enough that I don't think either man notices it yet, and it will probably fall upon them like a big giant bird out of the sky. Oh, wait......

Brilliant - I rather like the quote myself, so I'm determined to inflict it on as many people as possible. >D

You might like to know that your comment on the nature of a "Ianto Jones from any dimension" has sparked off a plotbunny frenzy in my head. Hopefully, something comes of it... we'll see!

The thing about Ianto is that he's mature - old beyond his years, like Jack puts it. This Ianto has even more cause to be that way than canon!Ianto, because of what he goes through. And that kind of steady patience and always taking things in his stride, that part of him? Jack needs that, and that's why Jack turns to him for support. Ianto's his rock. Or that's my theory, anyway, and I'm sticking to it.

Also, my beta and I both fell over ourselves laughing at the last bit of your review. O, Myfanwy!

The idea just wouldn't let go of me, given Ianto's personality. I'm glad you liked it; thanks for reviewing! The next part will be up soon. =D

So glad you're happy to see something new from me! It's always a huge boost to my ego to know people care about what I write. XD

I was thinking about Ianto's personality, and the way he seemed so comfortable with antiques etc - and then this idea popped up and refused to leave me alone!

As I mentioned to another reviewer, it's Ianto's ability to take pretty much anything in his stride that draws Jack to him. Ianto grounds him, and so it's no surprise he turns to Ianto in 2000. I'm glad you liked this so far - the next part will be posted soon!
