Hey! First off, thanks for putting up an HMD, I appreciate it. ♥
This isn't too big, but I thought it was worth mentioning. I've noticed that in a lot of threads, you don't change the default icon in your replies. Sometimes that's fine, because it's a pretty neutral expression, but sometimes it just makes the thread really jarring and strange. Most LJ RPers use the icon to indicate tone of voice, because as I'm sure I don't need to tell you, that can be a little tricky to pick up through text alone, especially when the character is using voice or video. So when all they have to go off of is your default icon, it makes threads like this and this kind of... surreal
( ... )
I should have remembered to put it up weeks ago! Somewhere in my brain I must have thought I'd done it already.
Thanks for the heads up on the icons. I do admit I do tend to forget to change the icons, even though I seem to be amassing a wealth of icons for her. It really helps seeing the examples of the threads because reading back I can see how it has an immediate impact. Honestly, I'd never really thought much before about how it looked to someone else reading it but I will now. I don't want rping to be either of those.
Also thank you for the comment, on the punctuation, I'll take more time to read over the replies before I post them. Getting over excited about replying doesn't count as an excuse for bad punctuation.
Thank you so much for the feedback, I do appreciate it, I would rather catch small things before they escalate into a bigger issue and reading/writing with me becomes a completely awful experience.
And like I said, these aren't huge issues. Just little things to improve your overall quality. And if it helps you to remember-- I sort of view RPing as... hmm, kind of creating a comic of a scene between the characters involved? (This is probably seriously over nerdy, wow, but bear with me!) I want to make everything as clear as I can, from the expression the character has as they say something, to tone of voice, for my "viewer". And I noticed that you do cues like "quietly" in some of the brackets of your tags, and that's awesome. Adding visual representation and making sure the punctuation is all in place is just more of the same. You know, more to help whoever is reading your tags clearly see exactly what you're having your character do!
