Big issues

Big issues require planning and discussion to be sure you're not making the wrong decision.

So what do you do if you have no one to discuss your options with?

That depends entirely on what kind of decision it is and what level of risk is associated.

I might:
Perform my own analysis and come to a conclusion on the best plan of action.
Seek out advice from others directly affected or involved in the decision.
Seek out advice from people who have been in a similar position.
Seek out advice from anyone at all.

And following the available options, I act.

If your intention was the last one, seeking advice from anyone at all, well, you haven't given us too much information to go on. :)

Weeeell...
I did my own analysis... I have kind of made the decision already, but it's the time frame that I'm wondering about... there is act now, and act in about 8 months... both have pros and cons, and I can't decide which one is better at the moment

There are no people as yet who are directly involved in the decision.

There are no people who I know in a similar position.

And it is a significantly tough choice so I wouldn't go about asking any other person. Also most of my friends are out - rather than their opinion on the time frame, they will most probably advise me against the whole thing :)

So you see, it's kind of tough... After I posted I realized there _is_ actually a friend of mine whom I might actually consult... but we'll see what happens :)

And if you want more information, you can obtain that via a personal message, as that's not something I would post openly, and not even in a friends-only post.
