The last post of 2009 (it is because I say so!)

Christmas has come and gone, New Year's Eve too, and now we're apparently in the year 2010. I'm not sure about the truthfulness of this claim - I have yet to see a proper flying car anywhere, so I rather doubt that the future has really arrived. So, let's look to the past for a bit. Here's what I got for Christmas (includes things I bought for myself with money I got):

Hello Kitty socks and underwear. Imaginative Realism by James Gurney. A hot pink Jet Set Addiction wristwatch. The Folklore of Discworld by Terry Pratchett and Jaqueline Simpson. Obama mints. Moomin sticky plasters. The Mighty Boosh series 1 dvd. Chocolate-mint tea. An Iittala Taika mug. An electric toothbrush. A very pink shirt. A headband inspired by the one James May wore in the Bolivia Special. Uuh... I may have missed something, but that's most of it.

Some weeks before Christmas the folks and me went down to visit some relatives and other random folks in Skåne. I haven't been down there for ages, I'd completely forgotten how open the landscape is. Up here there's either trees or houses, with some lakes and the occasional small field thrown in. In Skåne you can see for miles, and it's quite spectacular when you're not used to that.
Also, there were green fields. I've always known about that, since I grew up down there - some crops start growing in the autumn, and then keep going in the spring. I'd just forgotten about it, and it felt quite strange to see such green fields in December. Especially since it was all sunny, too; it looked like spring, and then you got outside and it was cold as buggerfuck. Looks at this picture, for example:

That's me, outside the Koenigsegg HQ. It's only about a mile from my aunt's place, where we were staying over, so we stopped by to oogle at it. It was a Saturday morning*, so it wasn't open, and we didn't take a lot of pictures simply because it was so arse-bitingly cold. Also, open landscape = wind! Brrr! At least the cold weather up here has the decency to look like this:

We're having quite a lot of snow this winter. That pic was taken weeks ago, and there's STILL a loverly layer of pretty white snow everywhere. :D When it snows here it usually goes all soggy and brown within a few days, so I am pleased with this lasting purtyness. And I'm quite amused at how Kisen doesn't mind:

Well he wouldn't. He's a Norwegian Forest Cat, after all, so even though he's the shorthaired version he still has very thick, warm fur. :3 He'd be perfect for gloves now. XD

So.

Tomorrow: Birthday. I'm having mixed feelings about it, mostly 'cos I never thought I'd be living with my parents at the age of twenty-bloody-four, but I'm not gonna start ranting about that 'cos then I'll just be brung low by myself. I Have A Plan, and unless it goes arse-up I'll be out of here before the month is over. So there, no reason to mope, eh? Also, I've already gotten an early present from acrossthelake:

The Stig, a Koenigsegg, and cake. What more could a girl want? ^_^

*I wrote down the highlights of that Saturday in my little notebook, it went like this:

Koenigsegg HQ
Cake
Lots of dogs
Really cool people
Lots of parrots
Lots of horses
Cake
Cuddly dog
Nice dinner
The Top Gear Botswana Special**
South Park Prius Pious episode***
Another cuddly dog

**Randomly found on Danish telly. :D I've only seen it on youtube before, so that was wheeee!

***Random observation: In Stockholm there are Priuses everywhere, in Skåne I saw two. During three days of mostly driving around. I wonder what that means?

travel, that poky motoring show
