That's why we're in Jackson this summer. No jobs. For either of us. So it's back to the jobs we had four years ago; we like our jobs, but it still feels like we're just goofing around. It's hard to find anything right now.
You can do it! You just have to be ridiculously aggressive about it. Fill out the online apps, then research the districts website and find an address. Mail the principal a hard copy of your cover letter, resume, college transcripts, teaching certificate (if you have it yet), and a teaching philosophy if you've got one. Then, in about a week, start calling them about twice a week and reminding them about your interest in the position. I know it seems like a lot - it is. It ruled my life last summer...and I didn't get a job until August! Don't get too discouraged (said the pot to the kettle).
And if you end up subbbing, it is still a step in the right direction, and you will learn a lot.
