Ann, 2001 does have an interesting story to it, it just doesn't have a lot of speech. There is only 45 minutes of speech in the entire film, its an entirely visual movie. Kubrick conveys the story, the themes and ideas through what is on the screen and does an amazing job of it. Does it make sense the first time you see it? No it doesn't and it ( Read more... )

I guess I disagree with the format he uses. Everything happens to very slowly and I guess in today's instant gratification culture that's just not palateable anymore. I think it would have/might have gotten interesting, but making it through the 8 hours of slow repetitive shots with slow repetitive classical music was bad enough to make not stop caring about the plot. I suppose if I was in the right state of mind, I miiight have liked it.

Eh, Bowling for Columbine looked decent, but when you see it things don't add up. Either way, I want to see it (I think I'm going with the fam) and know plenty of non-angry, non-whiney liberals who would probably go see it with you.
