Advent Drabble for nolagal!

"Hugo, could you come in here?"

Hugo was glad of an excuse to leave the pile of parchment on his desk; Harry got more memos than Hugo could sort, and dealing with the backlog often took him all night. Or would, if Harry would let him stay that long. But Harry insisted that either Hugo left when he did, or they both stayed. Either way, no work would be done on those evenings. Walking into Harry's office, Hugo was surprised at how dark it was, the fire burnt down to the last dying embers. He began to peel off from his path, to stoke the fire and con it into providing a little more light, but he caught Harry's eye, and Harry's expression said come here now. So Hugo came.

"How can I help?"

"Hugo, it's nine fifty on Christmas Eve; you're not at work anymore."

Looking pointedly around Harry's sprawling office, Hugo smiled slightly. Changing his tone gently, inferring with the sound rather than the words, he looked up at Harry. "Even so; how can I help?"

"You can open this." Harry pulled a large gift from under his desk, holding it out to Hugo across the mahogany.

Reaching out for the box, Hugo set it down and admired it. "You got it gift wrapped."

Harry chuckled, moving around the desk to press a fleeting kiss to Hugo's temple. "You know how hopeless I am managing wrapping paper, spellotape and ribbons."

"It looks lovely."

"It's better inside."

Hugo wondered if Harry had meant that to sound quite as alluring as it did. Reaching for the ribbon, he pulled one piece and watched as the bow unravelled, revealing the seam of the paper. Sliding his finger underneath, Hugo worked it along the length of the present, splitting the spellotape and pushing the paper aside. The box underneath was nondescript, white, plain, apart from the gold insignia in the corner. Hugo saw it, and his heart sped up.

Taking opposite corners of the box he lifted the lid off and put it to one side. Pushing the tissue paper aside, Hugo groaned, reaching his fingers in to trail the length of the garment. The corset was simple, and beautiful, nude silk stretched over the boning, neutral ribbons running up the back to tie it into place. There were no frills, no eye-catching features, and it was somehow prettier in its simplicity.

"I thought... in this colour, no one will see it under your shirt. Just if, you know, you wear it to work without a robe on. If you wear it that is. If you like it, that is... I can take it back."

Harry was the elder of them, but he was the one that babbled when he was nervous. Or at least he did with Hugo, letting his mouth run away with him every time he gave Hugo a gift, as though he thought Hugo might have changed his mind about his preferences, or might have decided he didn't want their relationship anymore. Hugo ached, his ribs, his waist, as he looked at the corset. He wanted to put it on, and the desire was peculiar in its physical manifestation. He could imagine how it would feel, how it would be soft but firm, pinching in his waist, giving him a feminine outline. On its own, or under a dress, creating hips that Harry's hands would rest on, heavy and warm, a simple touch in the office of an intimate one in bed.

"It's... I love it."

"Really?" Harry smiled, lighting up the room far better than the fire was managing. "I was worried it would be too much."

"No, it's... it's beautiful." Hugo put the corset back in the box and turned to face Harry. He wasn't entirely sure how to explain what he felt, but he would attempt it. "It's better, because you got it for me. Because it was okay for you to buy it for me."

Hugo looked up, hoping Harry had understood. The smile said he had. "Will you wear it for me?"

"When?"

Harry reached out for the corset, holding it up against Hugo's chest and groaning softly. "Right now."

Reaching up to press his lips against Harry's, Hugo caught sight of the snow falling out of the window, and wondered whether maintenance knew to make this evening special, or if it was just random chance. Either way, when the lock on the door clicked into place, Hugo decided all his Christmases had come at once.
