Is this in response to mom saying irregardless.

it's in response to everyone saying irregardless...

next up is "utilize," which is actually a word. But it's utilized excessively and in situations where it doesn't need to be utilized and other words may be more appropriate.

my favorite misused word is "myself"

example: once you're done filling out the surveys, return them to either myself of that guy over there.

annoying as all get out!

the truth of the matter is that dictionaries don't "define" what are "real words" and what are not. sure irregardless is contradictory because of it's negative prefix and negative suffix. nonetheless, such words (as are mentioned in the definition) are used every day. i think what you're going at is that people don't realize that the two negatives make the word positive even though they think it just makes it redundant. nonetheless, usage defines meaning not prefixes, suffixes or "dictionary.com." dictionaries in the united states give the most commonly associated meanings with words but there are many other meanings not given. this is why, in philosophical reasoning and literary theory, dictionaries carry little to no persuasive power. also, the definition says that the word is "considered a blunder for decades." by who? dictionary writers? etymologists? most people that use it wrong don't consider it a blunder. clearly some of these dictionary.com people should move to france where each word is meticulously examined by a government ( ... )

hmm... you may have a point. Let me check...

a> run wordchecker.exe
a> word_checking_input_paramathingy: irregardless
a> command: does word_checking_input_paramathingy = word?
a> boolean checker results: irregardless =/= word

awe... it's still not a word. Guess you don't have a point. Too bad.
