I don't think that is the case. I think being aware of past struggles, and current struggles in the movement for equal rights for any group will benefit their cause. I think this is especially important in a country with strong global scale influence such as the US where the women's rights issue isn't really at the forefront of people's thoughts anymore; however, it's still an ongoing battle elsewhere and people here need to be aware of that... but please elaborate.
