I gotta say, I am darned impressed with the horse-and-rider animations in Red Dead Redemption. Also, the writing and the voice acting - it's simply spot on for pretty much any western I have ever seen. Alas, I still suck at anything harder that 'casual' and even on 'casual' hostages have this tendency to die while I am still trying to figure out

Deadeye makes everything much easier once you get it.

I missed the message about how to even turn Dead Eye on, so ... that kind of sucked for a while, until I found where in the journal all that kind of stuff is collected. That, and looking at walkthroughs and the like. You can be just screwed if you miss a little message while desperately trying to do what you were told to. If you ask me, that's a bit of a design flaw.

Actually after a while when your deadeye is upgraded, it basically makes you unstoppable.

For a real challenge you'll have to head up in the mountains and try killing a Grizzly with a knife :P
