There is a term (which I can't recall) that states the closer to realistic an animation is, the more slight differences will bother the human senses. So the Japanese version is less realistic but more aesthetic, the closer to lifelike the Western animation is the more the mistakes will stand out and bug you.

Yeah, that's probably it. Well, I also may be biased against feathered blonde hair and overly chiseled faces, too.

What fresh hello was that! Those "Anglo" characters had uncanny valley all over them. Though, I'd be interested to see what they would look like realistic Asian features. And purple hair.
