The (Late) 2010 Writing Wrap-Up!

Jan 16, 2011 21:42

Oh, I am woefully late. But here, at last, is my wrap-up of 2010's writing endeavors, and final, year-end wordcount! \0/

February 28
Physics Error #36
PG-13 | 545 words | McKay/Sheppard
Summary: The fully indexed and cross-referenced database of all the scientific errors in Wormhole X-Treme! serves no actual purpose whatsoever (except to make Rodney feel better that at least someone noticed all the ways in which the show got it wrong, wrong, wrong), but everyone needs a hobby.

April 27
Tie Your Handlebars to the Stars
R | ~15,700 words | Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas, various background pairings
Summary: In which Kevin Jonas gets lost twice and is found each time, and Mike Carden is almost (but really not) a fourteen-year-old girl. Or, a story about getting lost and finding more than just your way. (An obsessively-close-to-canon!AU.)

April 28
A Most Practical Plan
NC-17 | ~2,000 | Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas
Summary: Kevin has a surprise for Mike. [crossdressing]

May 5
Your First, Last, and Only Line of Defense
NC-17 | ~4,000 words | Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas
Summary: In which the Jonas family is already Mike's most troublesome casefile, then there is a kidnapping, some ominous fruit, and some tentacle sex. (A Men in Black AU.) [AMTDI/sexpollen/tentacle!porn/mpreg]
+Bonus!Ficlet: In Which Emily is the Most Sensible Member of the Jonas Family

July 4
It's My Show, Baby (Do What I Say)
NC-17 | ~3,060 words | Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas
Summary: Kevin says they never talk anymore, and it's true: they never talk, but Kevin talks all the time. All Mike wants, freshly back from touring, is to relax and to have sex with his boyfriend, but to accomplish his goals, he first has to make Kevin shut up and listen. [dub-con in an established relationship, bondage, D/s]

July 23
Bad Vibrations
NC-17 | ~3,500 words | Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas
Summary: In which there is lots of sex, a concert, and a remote-controlled, vibrating butt plug. Yes, this is exactly what you think it is. [D/s themes]

August 19
The Strange and Unexpected Life of Robert Fischer, D.V.M.
PG | ~2,700 words | Robert Fischer/OMC/OFC
Summary: Following the death of his father, energy tycoon Maurice Fischer, in 2010, Fischer dismantled his inherited empire and entered the veterinary medicine program at Cornell University. When asked why, Fischer responded, "I felt I needed to make a drastic change in my life. My father's death was a wake-up call for me in many ways, and this has always been my dream. I finally decided to follow it." The Fischer Animal Clinic will offer free and reduced-cost veterinary services for low-income residents of the Los Angeles area.

August 23
This is not my (heart)
PG-13 | ~25,000 words | Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas, Brendon/Spencer pre-slash, Gabe/William
Summary: Kevin Lucas is not a girl, even if he did just wake up as one. He's handling it pretty well though; especially once he gets some highly unexpected help from Mike Carden, William Beckett, and Brendon Urie, who isn't a girl either. But with his parents worried, his brothers suspicious, and Spencer Smith apparently plotting his demise, waking up as a girl might actually be the least of Kevin's problems. [JONAS-verse, feat. genderswap and FTM!Brendon]

October 25
We're Together Like Glue and Hands
NC-17 | ~2,000 words | Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas
Summary: Homeless!AU. Kevin was living and working on the streets of Chicago when Mike rescued him. [Prostitution, somewhat graphic depiction of sexual assault, underage sexual activity (Kevin is 16).]

December 16-19
All I Want For Christmas
G - PG | ~2,600 words (total) | Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas
Summary: Kevin and Mike have a not-quite-perfect Christmas. (Written for Mundane Bingo)

1. Completely Socked in by Snow
2. Fighting Over the Remote Control
3. Cookies
4. Trying to Find Candles When the Electricity Goes Out

December 18
Sixteen Going on Forty
NC-17 | 1,455 words | McKay/Sheppard
Summary: "Are we fucking?" He asks bluntly, with an edge of expectation like of course we are.
John stands in stunned silence for a second. "I don't know what you're talking about," he hedges. [De-aged, underage sexual activity (Rodney is 16).]

December 21
You Only Hear the Music When Your Heart Begins to Break
R | ~13,700 words | Frank/Gerard, mentions of Frank/OFC [high school AU]
Summary: Frank has high school figured out. His mom has given up arguing about the amount of time he spends in Gerard's basement, and he doesn't actually care if people think it's weird that he and Gerard hold hands in the hallways and go to the bathroom together. The only thing Frank cares about is figuring out why Gerard's suddenly avoiding him -- because what's the point of losing your virginity on Prom Night if you can't tell your best friend about it in the morning?

This was obviously the Year of Skippy, with Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas fics making up the majority of my wordcount, and of my fannish efforts in general. I am still very much in love with Skippy, and have a bunch of Skippy WIPs that I'll be working on in 2011, so it looks like this might be another Year of Skippy, though with a bit of Frank/Gerard on the side. *G*

All of which brings my wordcount for 2010 to a grand total of:

76950 / 75000
(102.6%)

76,950 WORDS!

Which means I beat my self-imposed wordcount goal for the year by ~1,950 words! \0/ GO ME!

Considering that in 2009 I only managed to write about 27,000 words, and at the time I considered that seriously impressive, I am so incredibly proud of myself. Now to keep it up! I don't think I'll up my goal for 2011; if I can hit 75k for the year again, I will count myself a successful and goal-meeting person. :)

I would post a WIP roundup, but those take kind of forever to do, and I need to go to sleep soon. So I'll post a fresh, 2011 WIP roundup soon-ish. *G*
