Banned Books Week!

Sep 29, 2009 14:26

Totally forgot that tomorrow is the Banned Books Week read-out at work. Any suggestions on what I should read this year? Apparently my exerpt from The Clan of the Cave Bear last year made me a YouTube star.

Also should mention that a library of most of the books I own is here, but we should have most of the classics and the like at work as well.

And Tango Makes Three

a ridiculously cute picture book about gay penguins raising an egg...I kid you not. Someone had balls to get that published. I found it in the store like a year or so ago when it first came out and it was so cute...wasn't too surprised to find it ended up on a banned list though.

mmmm, maybe Lolita or In Cold Blood? just throwing out some at random from the list.

I might have a copy of Lolita somewhere, but if not, all the classics have pretty much been banned or challenged at some point. Good idea.

Also, it just struck me as funny...since we're an academic library we pretty much don't go near children's or picture books...CENSORSHIP! :-D

What? How did I miss your meteoric rise to stardom on YT? When was this?

Because I never advertised it and NEVER WILL. I've never even looked at it; just the librarian in charge of it tells me about the comments and views it gets.

Well, I just found it. :) I had no idea you were on YouTube. You did a good job reading the passage.

AUGH! Curse you!

;-)

Supposedly it has good metadata, and that's why it's so easy to find.
