Dreamwidth seems to be down - over serving quota

Jan 15, 2012 21:53

Yeah. Doesn't surprise me, what with the massive migration. This is so stupid and counterproductive it's hilarious. If people migrate to several different journal services instead of having like 70% of them all jump onto Dreamwidth, this wouldn't happen ( Read more... )

dreamwidth, wtf people

Eh, is it not working for you? That's really weird- I just checked it and it's fine for me.

It works now, but when I posted this log it wasn't working. I checked http://www.downornot.com/dreamwidth then and it said "over serving quota" (now it says it's up). It only stayed down for few hours or less before coming back though. Other sites worked fine when Dreamwidth wasn't working, so I guess it was not my Internet connection problem? Maybe it was a maintenance that I didn't know, but I don't think a maintenance would give "over serving quota" error. It would be "server down".

At least LJ is working for you? I'm not sure if it's because I have dial-up at home or what, but I can't seem to get on this site while at home, and it's making me mad. Anyway...hi? Long time no talk, due to me not being on. >_>

(Hi again!)

Yes, LJ works fine and at full speed. Dreamwidth is back now and more or less fine. I usually use LJ only for fan-stuff and Dreamwidth for personal and original, but if Dreamwidth goes down I use LJ as replacement. It's unlikely that Dreamwidth goes down though. That time was an exception.

If LJ is not working for you, do you want to move to Dreamwidth? I believe I have codes left that I can give to you. Many LJ fan projects and communities have mirrors there on Dreamwidth.

Dial-up... do you live in a rural area or...? The area where I live is considered rural and I had to use portable Internet service (which isn't always stable) because of the lack of high-speed Internet service, but with the Fibe things arriving we are getting Bell Fibe soon. If you are using dial-up for similar reason, or even just financial reasons, you can check if you can have a bundle. The phone + Internet bundle is really not expensive. Don't just take the offers on the website or on the flyer, instead, call them and try to negotiate a bundle.

If you have a spare code, I will be eternally grateful if you sent it my way. I don't think I'll move there permenently, unless LJ gets extremely unreliable to use, but for now I need somewhere to go. Any comms. I should check out if I am able to get on? And what is your username?

I live in a rual-ish area. There is high-speed avaliable, but I refuse to pay the high cost to get onto either it or wireless. I live at home too, and my family doesn't go bundles like what you suggested. But thanks for the information, I'll keep it in mind.

Ok, sent you a code via Message. I gave my username there too. I'm not very active on the Dreamwidth communities... which ones are you looking for?
