I'm back in home in SF again and it still seems strange that I think of this city as "home" now, but I do and it's really nice to be back. San Diego was a lot of fun, but stressful in it's own way. I flew down Wednesday night and stayed with Sharon and the bear. Spent Thursday in lab with her working on my thesis then headed over to the hotel were

You're I think the second person I'm telling about this, but I will officially be accepting UCLA's offer also. So we'll only be like 2.5-3 hours away from each other with no traffic. xD Or, you know, there's always the train.

I'm surprised they didn't already have an advisor/direction all picked out for you. That's the way it works in my department. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised; I'm not totally sure how science higher education works.

yay! \o/ I'm super happy for you too. I know I took my time telling people too since I wasn't sure about things. Originally I was going to be directly admitted to one lab, but they got me generally admitted (the better option as it means the school pays for you instead of your advisor) and so I have to pick a lab at some point. I'm not sure if that's how it works all all schools for science or not, but at least that's how it seems to work for the UC system.

And you'll be close enough to Ren Faire and what not, and possibly get in on a movie night on occassion with Niala and me. Possibly somewhere half way in between to make it easier, we'll see.
