Streets in Montepulciano
Little blue domed church at the bottom of the hill in Montepulciano. One night, Lauren, Hollis and I decided to take a walk after dinner. We went down to this little church- to get there we had to walk down this crazy steep hill. Pretty much every street in town is either straight up or down depending how you look at it. Hollis told us about a graveyard on the way, so we took a right at some pitch black road surounded by Cypress trees. We used to gravehunt back in Georgia, loving to freak ourselves out, so I told them about the Chupacabra and how it had been sighted in Italy. We heard something, and we all ran back up that tiny, dark road with a mixture of screaming and laughter. Out of breath, we continued to the blue duomo, which is extremely scary in the night.
One of the many little churches in town. This was the second day we were there, when the director gave us a walking tour. I don't think I ever went inside that one.
We stayed up one night, kind of unintentionally, and the sun started coming up so we ran outside to see it. You could see the light reflecting off the lake.
All the delightful desserts at Caffe Poliziano!! Needless to say I've tried them all.
My favorite church in Montepulciano was the one in the Piazza Grande. The art students would spend class inside it drawing statuary sometimes.
The outside of my favorite church in the Piazza Grande.
Me in a little garden.
We had classes in the fortress at the top of the hill, this is Kessler hanging out between classes in the grassy field.
On our first weekend trip away from the group, we went to Pisa with our roommates. Here's Lauren hugging the leaning tower <3
Lauren holding up the tower = Classic tourist fun
We stayed in an old converted nun convent. Caroline and Holly's feet were black because they'd worn flip flops, and the streets are nasty. Especially in Rome.
Florence Duomo, we visited Firenze many a time on our field trips.
Stairs leading up to the church, we went here on a field trip too. I'm pretty sure this is in Orvietto, yes. I had bought a glass necklace here and quickly dropped and broke it.
Train station at Como, our second weekend field trip.
Duomo in Como
Hostel in Como, much nicer than the one on Pisa, but more people to a room obviously. There were four showers and toilets in the other room, and breakfast in the morning was a loaf of bread with fruit jam, and tea. We got up early the next morning and made our way to Zurich!
On my birthday weekend, Karen and I made a mad dash to Cannes France. It would prove to be a disaster because of disgusting French men, but the journey was worth it as we rode in style on our double decker train. At the train station in Ventimiglia, we bought champagne, biscotti, pomodore panini, and milk for our birthday feast.
Karen listening to her music.
Eli, Josh and Kevin at the Crociani wine tasting, everyone got very drunk and the drinking continued at dinner, haha.
I shall post more later~
