Nifty Travel Aids...maidenmorticiaNovember 21 2010, 14:46:51 UTC
I don't know WHERE you're planning on going backpacking and I don't know how much you're planning on roughing it in hostels, but there's not much there that I would have found use for... some suggestions from a salty old backpacker (who travels solo):
*a universal sink plug
*a money belt (the kind that goes under your clothes)
*a katadyn water filter
*a swiss army knife or other good utility knife
*a sarong (or two)
*tubes of laundry liquid (for washing clothes in sinks)
*Lonely Planet guidebooks for the countries/regions you'll be visiting
*ziplock bags (large and medium sizes)
*those hiking pants that you can zip off the bottoms into shorts.

Thanks! Yes, it's not quite a backpacking website. Maybe I'll take the link down once they post it to holiday_wishes. I mostly want the clip-less clothes line from there (a backpacker's dream!). I have or know about most of what you list (yay!), except the clothing. The zip-off pants are a good idea -- I used to have some, but not anymore. I've never had a sarong. I think I'd be scared it would fall off. That happened to my friend once. What makes it a good travel item?

If I think of any job leads, I'll let you know!
